3's radio soundtrack is fine, 4 is the one where it truly went to shit. Also, New Vegas included a lot of the original ambient tracks from Fallout 1 and 2, which are fantastic. 4 added a lot of songs that dumb modders added to their radio mods purely because they were about nuclear war / energy, which were both too kitsch and simply not very good songs.

By the way, the only good radio mod for New Vegas is The Secret Stash, which adds every song that New Vegas' quests are named after.

I think the bottle has that design to look the furthest away from the traditional Coke bottle, so they can make money out of merchandise without invoking the anger of The Coca-Cola Company. Nuka World basically confirmed this.
>Nuka-Cola's signature rocket-shaped bottle replaced the traditional curved bottle when a rival corporation successfully sued for patent infringement. Fortunately, the public saw the new bottle as an improvement and Nuka-Cola's sales increased.

i'd say avoid shit like this and build your own list of vanilla bug fixes. there's too much biased headcanon overhaul nonsense going on here and from a quick look it doesn't even fix the black box loading bug.
i'm not against pre-installs as a whole because at least they're disclosing what non-vanilla bullshit they're making you play with but the majority of people will ignore the options, hit install, and accept it as the ideal experience and i have a problem with that.

there are no "definitive" mod selections. i just play the game until i find bullshit that annoys me and throw another mod onto the pile.

If I remember right the list of songs Radio New Vegas is allowed to select from includes a song that doesn't exist/is misspelled, so it defaults to selecting Johnny Guitar instead. That means the odds of Johnny Guitar being selected to play at random are twice as high, and it can also randomly play twice in a row.

I sort of like Three Dog in the sense that he's a flavorful character in a game where most NPCs have the personality of a bar of soap. It helps a lot that his personality was partially built by his actor and not Bethesda's writers.

The morality system aspect is still awful, though.

Glocks and AR-15s may not be 'new' but they are very modern designs that have been in common use for quite a while and can be seen in almost any conflict and are in use by law enforcement worldwide, making them 'generic'
Fallout: New Vegas gets around this by making the AR-15 an older model and giving it wooden furniture, while the Assault Carbine is based off of a Chinese knock-off which again is derivative of an older model, the only exception is the Marksman Carbine which is rare enough and only seen in the hands of actual soldiers so it gets a pass.

you can say the same thing about a lot of very old guns. Most modern pistols have designs derivative of the 1911 which is 114 years old now.
the guns new vegas based the trail carbine and brush gun off of are even newer than the AR15 design. There's a lot of pedantry to be had here and the fanbase's recent obsession with what real world weapons do and do not fit the setting is stupid.

I'm replaying Fallout 4 right now and I've finally come to the conclusion that it's a better game than New Vegas. The gameplay is actually fun, and sure the story is barren but that's because the designers made the sensible choice of having the quests inform/not get in the way of the primary gameplay loop of going to interesting places, shooting them up, and then looting the giblets for gun parts and drugs. New Vegas has a more interesting plot and setting but it's badly executed and is more interesting to talk about/hypothesise how good it *could* have been than it is to actually experience in game. And the gameplay sucks BALLS. I've never been able to finish an NCR playthrough because after 20 hours I get tired of walking in straight lines and clicking speech checks (the you win button). Also while this is only a minor point in Fallout 4's favour it has better companions than New Vegas, even if Veronica is my cute the game won't let me cure her gay and dick her down without mods.

You could have it both ways in a good game. Pre-war guns would for the most part have optics or a mount for an optic, with no options for a backup.
Newly made guns, like the Gun Runners' weapons, would instead opt for an easier solution (non-adjustable irons) which doesn't require extremely precise manufacturing.

FO4's soundtrack is fucking dogshit. Way too many shitty "LOL RADIOACTIVE BECAUSE FALLOUT XD" choices and bad 1950s rock (instead of actual good stuff from that era i.e. Little Richard or whatever). The Bing songs, Wanderer and Nat King Cole were all fine but that was really it.

FO3's is whatever; decent songs but again leaning too much into memery. But at least the song choices are mostly good songs unlike FO4. NV focusing on crooers and country & western fits the setting and tone of the game much better.

Let me hold your hand then. Elton Britt is arguably the most popular performer of any of the novelty songs that appear in the game, being the only one to my knowledge that ever went gold and by far having the catchiest song. Here are the billboard magazines from 1955 (it released in December) It never charted, and I challenge you to even find an advertisement for the record. If you want you can call up RCA and ask them, say that you're doing a historical research project. You know what the answer will be, fucking mongoloid. They're called novelty songs for a reason, faggot. Most of the non-novelty songs in the games are chart topping hits in their own right, the nuke craze cash-ins are tacky fan service trash for dumb cattle like you.

i modded in a campfire in novac, and the ability to craft all the ammo types the base game doesn't let you craft.

inventory sorter adds prefixes to item descriptions so they sort alphabetically eg: Book: Mag: ALCH: CHEM:
anything that doesn't have one is junk, so it's really helpful to spot stuff to dump

the most useful stability mod i was using at the time was onetweak. it makes the game not feel like an unstable crashy piece of shit.

IIRC it adds sanity-checking to the working memory, so every so rarely often you might notice a stutter that normally would have resulted in a crash, and that's the plugin recovering the application from it.

btw, the track packs are all for the "RACE" plugin that adds new radio music. it's ok but you don't need it.

Boone, because he matches my LARP and I think my courier would get along with him.

I think the only companion I actively dislike is Veronica. Partly because I was trying an explosives build last time I recruited her (and thus she was always in the way) but also because she seems to exist in a parallel reality to the rest of the BoS which makes her uniquely annoying. I can stand Arcade being a whiny fuck - some peeps are just like that - but Veronica is in the uniquely odd position that her ending slides will outright conflict with others depending on your choices.

You're missing the 'point' just like Todd
The NV tribes do not conflict with the central ideas of Fallout because they're old-fashioned, in fact Caesar modeling his new society after something that he read that in his mind worked and would fit well in the current world is perfect for Fallout's central ideas and themes
Bethesda Fallout is essentially hard-stuck in the apocalypse and that's the problem. 'Real' Fallout has always been about trying to start new and inevitably being stuck in a loop as humanity ended up in it's current state because of war, and starting new just begets more war as it is as natural to humans as breathing (and war, war never changes)
Saying all of this as someone who played all of the games starting with 1 as a child and whose favorite game is still Fallout 3 (and who's trans btw)

3 is just jet induced drug trip in general. The whole game feels uncanny. At least in NV (and even in 4) they drop some farms and such and settlements feel like they are inhabited by (MOSTLY) normal (for wasteland) people. While 3 just feels downright uncanny and also looks as if the bombs fell a year or a few ago, just with less radiation in the air and around + weird goofs and psycho raiders around.

Hard disagree. NV sticks to a lonesome western theme with the majority of its songs, has a couple more glitzy songs to suit the Vegas atmosphere and a couple melancholic money songs as well.
4 especially is plagued with overly sexual and "we thought it was funny" songs, the theming is all over the place and feels like it was put together in total isolation from the rest of the game world. 3 isn't quite as bad but I still think there's a few songs in that game that don't really fit the atmosphere as well as they could.
