>>713007807 (OP)it should be but it isn't. if you're building right now you want 32gb minimum.
>>713007807 (OP)Yes but you're gonna be much better off with 32gb.
Most of the games I play are poorly optimized garbage that barely use 4 and shit and sputter
16GB can be a problem if you're the type of person to have a browser open all the time with 20+ tabs. You can live with 16, but if you're building/upgrading 32 is the minimum.
32 giglets embarrasing themselves. 64 is the minimum now
>>713007807 (OP)You bought and currently still use an 8GB VRAM GPU you are an omega retard. 16GB RAM is probably not enough for a AAA modern game because Windows isn't good.
>>713008161Might as well get 96 or 128 gigs and put your whole game on a RAM disk.
>>713007807 (OP)yes because everything good is over 5-10 years old
Windows uses 11 by itself nowadays. Which leaves 5. Chrome wants at least 3. What games are you gonna play that required only two 2 GB?
>>713007807 (OP)Im playing on 4 year old laptop and still fine does have 12 gigs of vram laying around so havent seen the need to upgrade
>>713008430why you lie on internet about such stupid shit?

>>713008161RAM doesnt increase my fps
>>713008343>his puny games are smaller than 128gbWhere did you get them from, the stone age?
>>713009207It does, you just don't have enough ram
>>713008343i have unironically considered upgrading to 128gb of ram
then i'll buy a 8tb hard drive and put games on that instead of having a single game take 1/10th of an equivalent priced SSD and just have that shit in ram
>>713007807 (OP)You need 64 if you're a simulator fag
here's some misconceptions for tech illiterates
- ram usage scales with how much you have, stuff just wont be free'd from memory if you have excess ram so you cant say windows uses 10gb of ram when it can actually sideline that to 300mb if you're running out of it
- speaking of that, if you absolutely need more ram windows will automatically drop out from memory every tab that isn't highlighted or in immediate use, windows itself will drop memory from usage from it's side tasks that are pretty much useless, there's no definite way to tell how much ram you need or a software uses, it all gets stored in the pagefile, basically a dump of your ram, it's technically using your hd as extra but very slow ram so when you switch tabs again after running out of ram you might see some slowdown
- if you don't mind little hitches you can get away with half the minimum ram requirements in most games

Literally the only game I've had issues with only using 16gb of ram and that's because when they went to 1.0 they accidentally included a memory leak with their Steam Workshop integration.
>>713007807 (OP)16 is the minimum is your running windows 11 and have at least 5 chrome tabs.
Honestly if you are building a new PC. Just have an extra bootable SSD with SteamOS on it. Its so much better for running games than windows.
>>713007807 (OP)64gb is the bare minimum nowadays
>>713010191Thanks for removing "is Tower Unite" from my post 4chan.
Very helpful that you've removed me fucking saying the name of the game from my post like that isn't a key fucking detail.
Staff unironically deserves to get doxxed again.
>>713007807 (OP)From what i got 16 is increasingly poorfag toaster tier now, 32 is "acceptable" 64 is "excellent" and 100+* is if you actually wanna be able to brag about how strong your PC is without getting laughed out of the room (Assuming no other part bottlenecks). Local AI stuff kinda raised the bar because that stuff is RAM hogging.
It works but you are doing bare minimum but the baseline is kinda getting pushed up.
Bros I got 16GB DDR5 but task manager says my memory is always at 70%+
Itโs got random shit open like anti malware executables, dell apps, Microsoft edge when itโs not even open
Pls confirm what do saars Iโm new to PC
>>713007807 (OP)you can get by with 16 but there's no reason to build with anything less than 32.
>>713010350>running models on RAMyou enjoying that 0.59 t/s bro? you liking that 5m/image bro?
>>713007950This unfortunately. 16gbs was plenty for the longest time and then we blitzed passed 32 and now 64 is a requirement because of jeet programming. We saw the same shit with GPUs where 4gbs was fine and now 8gb is somehow povertyware
When do graphics stop? I don't want to keep upgrading.
>>713007807 (OP)even the next consoles will have 32gb ram and 24gb vram...
>>713008343Is there much of a point to that anymore? SSDs are so fast now that going from a 0.5 second loading time to 0.4 isn't going to matter much.
>>713010935I mean pragmatically speaking we're basically at the point where you don't even really need any NEW hardware for graphics.
That's why the marketing is around this AI shit that has literally zero practical usage besides scamming people and stupid visual shit like that cartoonishly inefficient CRT shader.
You can play basically every game worth playing with one of those Ryzen G processors, especially if you have DDR5 ram.
>>713010935>When do graphics stop?they already have
>I don't want to keep upgrading.you'll buy bigger number and you'll be happy
16GB is bare minimum for a functional PC. For video games it should do enough, as long as you don't multitask in demanding games.
>>713010528Did you get a prebuilt or something? Remove bloat from your PC. You can do a fresh and clean install of Windows or you can trawl through your Program Files folder and uninstall everything you see there that isn't a Windows program. Task Manager should also have a Startup tab where you can manage programs that startup automatically when Windows boots. There's usually a lot of shit there you'll never use like the Xbox app and Dell-branded crap. Beyond that there's a lot of other small things that'd take too long to explain. Just search "how to remove bloatware" and look around.
>>713011113So they just find ways to make sure you have X in order for you to be able to play Z or Y? Because this would just force people to pirate video games, for the gorillionth time.
>>713007807 (OP)Shut the fuck up if you don't own 128GB and earning your money with AI shit.
>>713011709Pretty much.
Like how that shittyana Jones game had a mandatory ray tracing requirement
>>713007807 (OP)I wouldn't say so. I've noticed that quite a few games are taking 10-14GB to run, and as tragic as it sounds you can't run your system on what little ram is left.
I haven't managed to max out my ram while playing yet however, so 64 is definitely still overkill.
>>713011727What AI shit is earning you money?
>>713010790>>713011834Name the games you guys are playing that take so much RAM.

>>713007807 (OP)most unrealslop requires a minimum of 24gb just to not crash, 32gb is a realistic minimum today with all the unoptimized slop
>>713007807 (OP)Only for 1080p very low graphics, and most games are shipping with 32gb requirements already even for minimum settings, so I'd be pretty wary about that.
>>713007807 (OP)For UE5 games absolutely not. There's a crash and memory issue that's only staved off by having 32GB
>>713012807marvel rivals will run like shit and crash intermittently if you have 16gb RAM.

it's pretty cheap may as well get 32. you will hit your 16gb limit if you're a lunatic like me with a thousand tabs open, multiple monitors, music, and a game open, etc.. all at the same time.
RAM isn't that expensive.
Why anyone would have less than 64 gigs is beyond me
>>713007807 (OP)It is if you're doing literally nothing else while gaming. No discord, no browser, nothing.
yes but i have 64 gb of ram
>buy DDR5 ram thinking its going to be a big deal
>have to do ram training at least once a week that takes 10-15 minutes during start up
what the fuck were they thinking
>>713009329The thing is if you do that you can almost guarantee some stupid fucking industry standard changes due to new tech and suddenly you look like a retard
>>713007807 (OP)the minimum is now 64gb due to jeet programmers
if you were planning on getting 32gb save up a bit more and get 64gb
I'm not joking

16 gigs plus 1 firefox tab is pretty much 32 gigs
48gigs if youre on windows

Is this a bait thread? I have 64gb since 2022 and i feel mogged by 128gb coworkers most of the time. Just upgrade ram is cheap
ram is dirt cheap
vram is another story
I have 6 and it's good enough for the games I play.

>>713015560I've never played it and never will, but I'm pretty sure Star Citizen needs more than 32 gigs.
>>713015713Yeah becuase their optimization is even worse than jeets
>>713010963They will have 32gb shared system memory, which means that it will be split between ram and vram, likely 16 and 16 or 24 and 8.
They will be dog shit for tech illiterate retards like yourself.
>>713007807 (OP)Yes, with a big "BUT" attached to it.
The fastest 16GB will still get you through it as well as slow 32GB.
However again, that will need the fastest RAM you can buy and 16GB of that RAM is just as expensive as regular 32GB. Additionally you will need to run your games off of NVMEs. On top of that you can forget running things like mods because they will mess with a game's hardware requirement. 16GB is enough to BARELY scrape you by, any more and it will collapse on you.
>>713014209Every week? My pc did it once on the first boot after assembly and hasn't done it since. It's been a few weeks now. I think you have different issues.
>>713007807 (OP)With how cheap RAM is, might as well go for 64.

This is just a race to make the stupidest post for most You's.
Ram is too cheap to even be complaining about ram usage. I threw 64 gigs of ddr5 in my rig for fun.
Somehow I use 15 gigs with no games running so I'm concerned for future optimization
It should be for anything that isn't bloatware
>>713016605>spoilerHow do you not know how RAM works? Oh nevermind. Most people in PC gaming no more know about anything. They just watch clickbait Youtube vids, or not even the vids, the title and thumbnail are enough for them to form an opinion.

>>713017198Only way i can do that is by populating all 4 slots and that'll hurt overall performance.
>>713017198128 gb ram with a next gen high end arm processor with a BIG cache test now tanks.
>>713007807 (OP)Remember, the Switch 1 only has 4GB of RAM. Remember that the Xbox 360 and PS3 cheaped out and used 256MB of RAM (and games suffered as a result).
