16GB can be a problem if you're the type of person to have a browser open all the time with 20+ tabs. You can live with 16, but if you're building/upgrading 32 is the minimum.

here's some misconceptions for tech illiterates
- ram usage scales with how much you have, stuff just wont be free'd from memory if you have excess ram so you cant say windows uses 10gb of ram when it can actually sideline that to 300mb if you're running out of it
- speaking of that, if you absolutely need more ram windows will automatically drop out from memory every tab that isn't highlighted or in immediate use, windows itself will drop memory from usage from it's side tasks that are pretty much useless, there's no definite way to tell how much ram you need or a software uses, it all gets stored in the pagefile, basically a dump of your ram, it's technically using your hd as extra but very slow ram so when you switch tabs again after running out of ram you might see some slowdown
- if you don't mind little hitches you can get away with half the minimum ram requirements in most games

16 is the minimum is your running windows 11 and have at least 5 chrome tabs.

Honestly if you are building a new PC. Just have an extra bootable SSD with SteamOS on it. Its so much better for running games than windows.

From what i got 16 is increasingly poorfag toaster tier now, 32 is "acceptable" 64 is "excellent" and 100+* is if you actually wanna be able to brag about how strong your PC is without getting laughed out of the room (Assuming no other part bottlenecks). Local AI stuff kinda raised the bar because that stuff is RAM hogging.

It works but you are doing bare minimum but the baseline is kinda getting pushed up.

I mean pragmatically speaking we're basically at the point where you don't even really need any NEW hardware for graphics.
That's why the marketing is around this AI shit that has literally zero practical usage besides scamming people and stupid visual shit like that cartoonishly inefficient CRT shader.
You can play basically every game worth playing with one of those Ryzen G processors, especially if you have DDR5 ram.

Did you get a prebuilt or something? Remove bloat from your PC. You can do a fresh and clean install of Windows or you can trawl through your Program Files folder and uninstall everything you see there that isn't a Windows program. Task Manager should also have a Startup tab where you can manage programs that startup automatically when Windows boots. There's usually a lot of shit there you'll never use like the Xbox app and Dell-branded crap. Beyond that there's a lot of other small things that'd take too long to explain. Just search "how to remove bloatware" and look around.

I wouldn't say so. I've noticed that quite a few games are taking 10-14GB to run, and as tragic as it sounds you can't run your system on what little ram is left.
I haven't managed to max out my ram while playing yet however, so 64 is definitely still overkill.

They will have 32gb shared system memory, which means that it will be split between ram and vram, likely 16 and 16 or 24 and 8.
They will be dog shit for tech illiterate retards like yourself.

Yes, with a big "BUT" attached to it.

The fastest 16GB will still get you through it as well as slow 32GB.

However again, that will need the fastest RAM you can buy and 16GB of that RAM is just as expensive as regular 32GB. Additionally you will need to run your games off of NVMEs. On top of that you can forget running things like mods because they will mess with a game's hardware requirement. 16GB is enough to BARELY scrape you by, any more and it will collapse on you.

Every week? My pc did it once on the first boot after assembly and hasn't done it since. It's been a few weeks now. I think you have different issues.

With how cheap RAM is, might as well go for 64.

16GB is enough for vidya but you'll have to basically have nothing else on but the game itself.
So 32GB is better so you can have a bit of headroom for other stuff

Ram is too cheap to even be complaining about ram usage. I threw 64 gigs of ddr5 in my rig for fun.
Somehow I use 15 gigs with no games running so I'm concerned for future optimization

How do you not know how RAM works? Oh nevermind. Most people in PC gaming no more know about anything. They just watch clickbait Youtube vids, or not even the vids, the title and thumbnail are enough for them to form an opinion.

Remember, the Switch 1 only has 4GB of RAM. Remember that the Xbox 360 and PS3 cheaped out and used 256MB of RAM (and games suffered as a result).
