Yeah, i'm not really sure modern Koshiro's a good fit for the kind of music SoR needs. His style suits stuff like Etrian Odyssey much better these days.

I liked his intro music for SoR4. You can bitch about him being less videogame-y and more of a bandcamp hidden gem but it's only natural he's more mature now compared to his explosive youth.
Their take on Shinobi is so distinct (unlike SoR4, which is a fairly conservative sequel) I'm not sure it matters anyway. I think the game looks to be something special, but aesthetically it's pretty far removed from the Genesis titles. Even the 3DS game is closer.
I noticed Yoshiro's Ancient company is still active. Are they doing stuff outside of Nintendo and Japan? >>713021915
Well, at least visually they are using Mega Drive colour palette and it seems Shinobi 3 is the base for our moveset. The connections are here.

He's still doing the soundtracks for the newest Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune games and the rights are licensed through that instead of Namco.

Boss music were a let down, except for Max and Ms. Y. Also hate how they used the game gear for some retro tracks. >>713021116
I enjoyed Olivier Deriviere's music more than Yuzos honestly especially Rising Up.
