The issue isn't necessarily minority characters, it's the fact that leftism is incompatible with normative appeal.
It creates situations where not even the groups they're trying to help will like the things that they make. If you notice the kinds of characters that for example; black or Latina women will post about it's typically an anime character with big boobs from something that aired 5-15 years ago and no recent characters despite the efforts of lefties.
