Because after Gears 5, it seems the devs simply lost a lot of their manpower, hence why People Can Fly had to be contracted as co-developers. Just throwing theorizing around, but it's also probably why Reloaded is just a literal rebrand and resolution/framerate bump to Ultimate. Remastering and porting Gears 1 to other platforms is a massive mistep. Every other Gears game is a huge step up in design and gameplay quality, but people new to the series will play 1 and think it's shit, then avoid all future games.

Xbox leadership are retarded, it would make so much sense to do an actually good remake of Gears 1 and remasters of 2 and 3. But they're too lazy and don't care about the series anyway.

After Gears 4 was boring, 5 was mostly competent in design and Hivebusters even more so, but the writers for the new generation have been pretty shit outside of Hivebusters. It's not Halo 4-5 levels of bad, but just sucks a lot of the old grit and spirit out of things. It's not like this series went to the absolute shitter unless you're some Gnashers-only fag, it just stopped being relevant because everyone stuck to bigger shooters and Xbox as a brand ate shit.
