weirdly enough, i just wasn't feeling the game as much on my NG+ playthrough and i'd still need a few more chapters to get to where i can access the DLC. i'm sure i will at some point, but for now i ended up buying Khazan instead. was in the mood for something a bit faster paced.

Beat it last week - it was great. Gonna try to beat Nameless Puppet on Difficulty 5 before uninstalling the game for a while most likely
Gunblade is probably my favorite weapon of any Souls game ever - the moveset is pure sex
>fast r1
>long range r2 that knocks you back
>follow up r2 can close the distance instantly
>r1 into non-charged r2 is fast and strong
>the r2 propelling shot can hit enemies behind you (https://sys.4chan.org/derefer?url=https%3A%2F%2Flitter.catbox.moe%2Fylohy1tklpghpe6l.mp4)
>fable art to increase all r2 damage, including fatal attacks

Still Holy Ark Sword since I don't know of anything else that's motivity and better. Plus it took awhile to get used to it. I tried the giant metal spear plunger thing from chapter 1 but its damage was mid. I'm considering trying the gunblade too just for fun though.

Finally beat Arlecchino. It took me 9 hours of attempts on NG+5 (Legendary Stalker difficulty) without Lea's help. I ended up getting my winning attempt with Frozen Feast. It's slow, but there are plenty of opportunities to get very good hits in. It's my favorite weapon and I'm happy I was able to get it to work despite the boss' speed and aggression. No you are right ignore the skill issue troll posters, they are slop loving shills that want radahn fights 24/7 and never understood why Demon's Souls was popular to begin with. As someone that played Demon's Souls on launch day on the PS3 I can tell you the experience I crave wasn't OMG HARD ANIME BOSS FIGHTS. It was the level design, the punishment from dying you lost half your health. The atmosphere. Level design has taken a backseat completely and Lies of P doesn't have anything of note in level design worth a shit. The Zoo is arguably the only good one in the DLC and in the base game I would say MAYBE Chapter 5 and 6. But that's being generous. Level design has taken a backseat compared to boss rushing hard mode shit and I think all these devs including FROM themselves have completely lost the plot. Playerbases that worship impossible anime fights are just as much of a problem.

Exactly. The appeal of demon souls and dark souls was about the atmosphere of the strange land where you encountered tough enemies that could be beaten with strategy exploring. Tough but fair fights to players who are paying attention. Sekiro took the action aspect and perfected it: if you mastered the mechanics, you could fight any enemy. It was the reason they didn't allow coop, it would detract from the experience. It was fair. But what is fair about enemies with 20-chained attacks that never stop unless parried mixed with terrain attacks, all the while your character will nearly stagger with a single hit. That's just hard for the sake of being hard, there's nothing to learn. You don't feel accomplished because you feel like you were just overleved or you got lucky and the boss wasn't so aggressive in that run. And good that you mentioned level design because Lies of P has the worst of all souls games--just corridors of enemies to kill that sometimes are arranged in a way to make it as annoying as possible.
If they don't revert from this trend, and I don't think they will, I might not be returning for the sequel.

For some reason people complained about him A LOT in the base game even though he was an obvious gimmick fight with extremely telegraphed and slow attacks. Apparently people were vocal enough that they had to make him retard proof.
Reading shit like comments on fextralife and YT made me realize how absolutely dogshit most people are at souls games. And I'll admit that most of them can be wonky at times and have their fair share of bullshit moments/bosses, Lies of P included, but people will complain about absolutely anything. It's like they play these games because they want the "clout" that comes with beating a hard game, but then when they face the slightest challenge they start crying about how the game is bad or broken or the devs don't understand difficulty or whatever.

Yes, lock on. Once you out run the air slashes, he's going to do one final fury attack and that's when you fight him for real and start to learn his moveset.

So phase 2 begins like this

What he does / What you should do

- He gathers skulls / You fix your weapon and heal
- He begins throwing skulls / You start running around the perimeter
- He runs out of skulls and flings himself towards you / You dodge at the very last moment AND start booking it, run away as fast as you can
- He starts up a vortex move with a large AoE / You should have been booking it before it started up
- He starts flying in the air and starts slashing with long blades / You continue running away
- He stops slashing in air and boots up a fury attack, it has a little bit of a delay, I suggest waiting before he moves a little bit before trying to guard / Get ready to guard and block the fury attack

After all that, you fight him normally without running.

It's basically this game's Old Hunters, you venture into the past and see some of the darkest and saddest pages of the setting's history as you arrive just in time to witness how Simon wrestles control over alchemists from Valentinus. It fleshes out a lot of things the base game has merely hinted at, like the fact Geppetto's wife died and her Ergo ended up inside the family's maid puppet, becoming the first awakened puppet in the setting. Lea was hinted at in the main game already, several times. For example, in the first Black Rabbit fight, one of the brothers states that P fights like neither a Bastard nor Sweeper, his moves belong to someone else.

Yeah. Normal attacks to his body did very little damage originally. You were supposed to keep attacking one of his legs which would eventually cause him to stumble and fall down, and then you could fatal attack him and deal like 70% of his health.
Apparently that wasn't clear enough for most people, so they nerfed him into the ground. Not only does his leg have a big glowing weakpoint on it now, but he also takes decent damage from normal attacks now so you don't even need to break it first anymore.

Been a bit so might be off at some parts but I think it goes:

>An angel/god watching humanity. Said angel/god is generally benevolent and wants to help em out. Humanity's response is to take advantage (some wishes might not be good but said god is innocent and doesn't know better thinking its doing good because even its a jerkass human) and eventually tear said god apart for muh power/boons/etc. Said god's cool with it though since they're chill
>The civilization that first encountered said god (or found the handiwork of an even earlier civilization who did) had ruins as per usual.
>The Alchemists discover Ergo in a mine near what would eventually become Krat then find the ruins which they use in their crazy efforts to attain immortality and supreme power / truth
>Also find an ancient guardian of the old civilization that has ergo vision and decide to experiment on it because of course they would.
>They also eventually find a super artifact in the form of a piece of that torn apart god (arm of god). Its goes extreme potential but requires a lot of power to get working
>Fucking around with ergo (which was likely also related to the god as well as in part being an intrinsic thing to people) leads to petrification disease happening as a result to overexposure to it. This results in souls/essence basically crystalizing and becoming another resource. This along with general ergo stuff lead to funky scenarios like people pseudo reincarnating in puppets if their soul happens to reawaken in a puppet its inhabiting (see Arlecchino).

No there's two timelines. one pre overture where lea gets merked by alecchino and one where we help her beat him. Why do you think we get sent back to the present just before gepetto arrives to kill lea? Because Gepetto seeing carlo would cause a time paradox. There's no dramatic changes in the story after we change the timeline to arrlechino dying to lea + carlo because lea just dies to gepetto shortly after, instead of arlecchino beating lea, only to be killed by gepetto shortly after.

I'm mainly pissed about the fact I like both La Vendetta blade gimmick of storing explosions from blocks/parries and it's handle for the baseball bat moveset, but don't like them together
Handle is pissing me off because you attack with the side of your blade so anything that has any discernible edge or striking point looks completely retarded. Pretty much limits you to blunt weapons and not even all of them

Means to an end and the details about how they died wasn't common knowledge I think. His wife died in an accident as far as official records went (with hidden record revealing it was an unsanctioned alchemist project that went awry) and Gepetto barely gave a shit about Carlo once his wife was gone so he probably didn't know about the little horror show meeting he went to.

Though yeah mostly means to an end to play the alchemists and get close enough to nick the arm of god so he can pull his revival plot while simultaneously wiping out everyone else and take over Krat

the role of the king of puppets is a little tough to grasp and may be inconsistent between base game and dlc
He may have sent you to kill him just to tie up a loose end - the king of puppets made those recorders implicating Geppetto so he may have had some degree of freedom the Geppetto wanted squashed out

It's in the underground lab as well as two other ones at the hotel, the ship, and monad estate. Basically went

>Camille was supposedly a Listener and worked with the alchemists
>Alchemists do an unsanctioned experiment testing Listener reactivity to the arm of god
>Goes bad, Camille dies.
>Valentinus goes "ah shit oh fuck" and covers it up, having the people involved in it axed except the puppet boss bitch who also worked with/for Camille (she was the one who pushed to take Camille's ergo and put it into a puppet which led to that whole discovery.
>Make the official story that something happened on a ship and Camille + 12 others died.
>Valentinus sends Gepetto letter about it
>Gepetto probably doesn't buy the "official" story and goes digging / works with Simon to take out Valentinus (and then from there Gepetto secretly plans to fuck over Simon too along with everyone else)
Anonymous No.713115024 >>713115640
So the reason Geppetto started the frenzy was to gather a ton of ergo to use the arm or god to awaken P/bring back Carlo.
Romeo was used as the king to start and run that operation.
Romeo awoke his ego sometime between the start of the frenzy and when the game starts.
Romeo now is attacking the carcass monsters to help the surviving humans.
Sophia wakes up P, and Geppetto's plans change to kill the king and take out the alchemists after. Using P as the ergo "releaser"
In the DLC Geppetto kills Romeo and Lea. Likely because he knew he needed a strong willed ego to lead all the puppets / take out the 2 people most likely to stop him.

Does that all make sense? I don't think the game outright tells the player why Geppetto starts the frenzy and this makes the most sense to me.

Green Swamp man is my favourite fight in the base game.

For all purposes it should just be a random no name monster wearing another earlier bosses skin, and therefore lame filler, but it's hype as fuck. The way its animated overall, and how it steals the Watchman's moveset then mixes it up is just great.

I can see why Expedition 33 hired Koreans to do most of their battle animations, that seems to be a speciality.
