this. its the carbs. I used to be very skinnyfat and didn't eat much at all really but what I did eat was almost all carbs. I cut pretty much all carbs out and focused on stuff like fruit and veg and protein and went from skinnyfat to just skinny.

It legitimately depends on how hard you lift and what your routine looks like. If you're lifting hard enough to lose weight just from that, you'll avoid becoming skinnyfat. If you're lifting lightly but doing mostly cardio it depends on your genes and hormones.

No, it's retarded and it will kill your motivation because you're essentially swimming upstream. It's better to suck it up, eat a healthy, relatively structured diet for 2-3 months, and track your calories and weight (which helps your motivation and keeps you accountable). You're basically just greasing the slippery slope by trying out-exercise a bad diet.

You can have plenty of cheat meals while eating "healthy", though, especially if you're willing to fast for the rest of the day. I ate a lot of Chipotle (bowls) and even Chick-Fil-A when I was cutting a while ago, and it stalled my progress but never set me back.

Have you ever considered calculating the calories and total nutritional value of all these meals instead of just guessing if its healthy. Whatever the answer is you still need to lift weights to not look skinny fat. Clothing also can make you look fatter than you actually are. If youre a DYEL and your clothes are too tight everyone will notice the strain. If your shirts are too big the sleeve can make your upper arms look weird while the over hang of an untucked shirt over your belly makes it look way bigger.

Yeah breakfast could be healthier, but a lot of carbs early is energy throughout the day as they're slow to release that energy.

Lunch, that sandwich is to force some fat and protein down my throat as I don't particularly get a lot of both. Each meal should be 700ish calories (often a little backended) and mine are roughly that.

Yeah I was being vague for dinner, it varies constantly. Could be anything, really. Probably two thirds of the time there's a meat, but I tend to keep it small.

Calories are usually 700/500/900 ish a meal.
I've had some people call me a health nut for vaguely considering calories and putting some fruit and veg in there, but others like you telling me it could be way better.

So I think I'm about average. It's hard to understand how people gain weight from this.

Carbs that aren't immediately used get stored and if those stores are full they get turned into fat. Likely by lunch all the excess carbs were turned into fat. Amerifats diets are loaded with carbs and this simple process is how we get so fat ontop of other things. Sometimes what’s listed as a vitamin is not equivalent to what you’d get in food. For example the β€˜vitamin C’ you’d get in a supplement bottle is vastly inferior to what you’d get in fruit.

While I agree active hobbies ie sports are great not only for physical health but mental health since you can do them with friends on teams but they are not a replacement for a working out. All athletes work out as well as play their sport. If the sport alone was enough they wouldn't need to workout.
