Does anyone remember this one creepypasta/4chan post that was about how every year a single person is chosen to be "forgotten" by the world and it happened by every other human knowing where the person was and rushing there to kill and devour them and then destroying every personal belonging they had. I remember that the person would also get the memory of everyone else that was chosen before and the main character had enough time before people found him to see the memories of other people, the one before them was a girl that got immediately killed by her parents and as he went back to the stone age he saw the first chosen, cold and scared and realized that whatever was about to happen to him was a mercy because there was something much worse before.

none of them are really scary if you aren't 12 desu (which means the scariest is BEN DROWNED because it's the one i liked most when i was 12)
they literally always shoot themselves in the foot by introducing supernatural elements that make it obvious it's just a story. before the supernatural shit happens you can go "well maybe this really is true, maybe some elaborate prankster hid a romhack or it's a glitch or cut content" but the second they go AND THEN HYPERRRALISTIC BLOOD CAME OUT OF MY SCREEN you know it's all fake. can't think of one that doesn't do this -- even the morrowind creepypasta, which is one of the best at leaving things ambiguous, ends with "omg the monster is outside my window!"
picrel is the most egregious example of this but it's still kino because of the sprite work + sheer kaiju autism

Because it was entirely based on imitating Local 58. The only good analog horrors are Local 58 for exploring/defining the genre, and GREYLOCK for mastering it (as best as one could) and trying to throw in something new. Everything else is trying to imitate but neither innovates nor tries to go above and beyond.

That's probably it. Most are not scary because it tries to introduce supernatural, starts to focus on the author rather than the actual game, or is so unrealistic you can't immerse anymore.

That doesn't mean there aren't interesting or "good" creepypastas though. Godzilla NES is pretty good (excluding the end which is dogshit) despite not being scary.

None of them scare me, I'm not being raped by slenderman. But I will say the most interesting creepypastas are ones that are centered about a video game. The prospect of a game being haunted is more interesting to me than really anything else creepypasta wise.
