they literally always shoot themselves in the foot by introducing supernatural elements that make it obvious it's just a story. before the supernatural shit happens you can go "well maybe this really is true, maybe some elaborate prankster hid a romhack or it's a glitch or cut content" but the second they go AND THEN HYPERRRALISTIC BLOOD CAME OUT OF MY SCREEN you know it's all fake. can't think of one that doesn't do this -- even the morrowind creepypasta, which is one of the best at leaving things ambiguous, ends with "omg the monster is outside my window!"
picrel is the most egregious example of this but it's still kino because of the sprite work + sheer kaiju autism
