>Today, Mega Man is a globally recognized name. I’m even surprised by how far it’s come and how long it’s remained relevant. It remains a hot topic online, with strong support spanning from the original retro game to the latest instalments and spin-offs.

>And yet, no one knows its origin. This has led to speculation and misinformation online, which I admit is sometimes disappointing to see

He seems aware of the online discourse around the series, yet says that no one knows the origin of the series. Which is strange since there's been multiple books by Capcom on the series. What is it that you think hasn't been revealed?

The thing is, people confuse “origin” with “development history.” Yeah, we’ve got the Rockman Complete Works interviews and some Udon translations, but there’s always this hazy gray area around who exactly conceptualized what. Like, Akira Kitamura gets credited as the creator, but even he said it was a team effort and the robot master concept came after the base engine. There’s speculation that the "Blue Bomber" look was a limitation-turned-style from the Famicom palette, not a grand artistic vision.

So when AK_Blueprints says “no one knows the origin,” I think he’s referring more to the deeper creative spark—like who had the first true idea of Mega Man as we know him—not just “we made a platformer with robots.” And that’s the kind of stuff that DOES get lost when it’s all filtered through marketing and decades of localization.

I'm a megaman fan
I've already been killed long ago, they can't hurt me anymore with nothing. They can only hurt me now by releasing bad games.

he seemed to lack critical information that the completion spreadsheets still update rather rarely, "it's almost done! it's 85%!" can still mean years off knowing JKB's hobbyist work pace

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16VLKxugLLZMaSWz6yDm9cD7dLF7KfI4V82vMBwpnwdg/

currently sitting at 82% total and recently he did what he said he wouldn't and added axl lol axl is "non-canon" and pretty much has no story content while x and zero have tailored intro stages and a rival character
