Making the main villains correspond to the seven deadly sins is a neat concept, but it doesn't really work. Kanashiro fits greed more than gluttony, but they couldn't give greed to him because that was already Okumura's sin. No one has sloth, even though that could have been Madarame's sin. Instead, he's given "vanity" which is not only not one of the seven deadly sins, but is essentially the same thing as pride.
Royal makes this even worse because Maruki isn't given a sin; his trait is "sorrow". Wtf? The seven deadly sins and all the other villains were characterized by their desires. But sorrow has nothing to do with Maruki's desires except in a tangential sense.

I beat OG Persona 5 about 6 years ago. Is it worth it to play Royal now or should I wait for them to remake Royal in a few years lol

writing was really bad. Politics politline was incredibly shallow and juvenile and full of uninteresting characters. Actually there were loads of uninteresting characters given focus for the mind palaces in the first place, they really botched that aspect of things. If you're going to have psyche-dive dungeons then making the characters that they're a psyche-dive into boring is a real waste.

English translation was really bad. Not in the way that a lot of people here screech about, I mean in the traditional way of "the translator wasn't competent enough with the source language to understand the material in the first place, so of course they weren't able to come up with English lines that would correspond to the original lines in meaning"

There are a very weirdly large number of straight up mistakes. Whoever the translation company was that did the game must have given big chunks of the job to someone whose Japanese ability was only good enough to understand maybe 90% of the original script and was just guessing for the remaining 10%, and on top of that quality control was so poor that this person's mistakes made it all the way through to the dub recording studio without being fixed beforehand. Just an embarrassing situation

I didn't like it.
Went in thinking it was an RPG, but it's seriously closer to a visual novel. The fighting system might be the most basic I've ever seen, and the quality of the dungeons compared to the rest is embarrassing. The music was top, else not for me at all.
