Bro I got a copy of Kevin Smith's Dogma on DVD and was surprised that it had bookelts and little shit from the movie world, and the discs are printed with gags in the graphic.

Actual midnight releases to anticipated games. I don’t know if we’re ever getting another HALO 2

i remember being hyped for world of warcraft and standing in line for the midnight release and retards in line begging to trade their standard copy for my collectors edition copies and trying to juggle a construction job - waking at 6am to get to the job site at 7:30am and working to 6pm then gaming until midnight for a year

>Malls being the hub for getting the newest games
That's a weird one for me. I was always a hermit and didn't really like shopping and yet I get the weirdest fucking strongest pangs of nostalgia thinking about simple shit like going to Barnes and Noble and then picking up a cheap shitty fast food burger on the way home with a new book. When I'm feeling extra reflective, like now, I then wonder what the fuck the actual social people feel about it because it isn't just entirely the sensation of browsing goods you're interested in

>the lighting
>some girls looking around occult books
>cute teenagers walking by outside the store in the mall
>the smell of a new book page while looking over a few pages and reading to see if it is interesting enough
>perky teenager taking your food order
>kids excited heading into the arcade
>couples filing in to catch a movie starting soon

For me it was Waldenbooks.

Speaking of smellz, any time a place in a mall had some indoor waterfall or fountain thing. That weird refreshing but sort of artificial since they probably put a fuckton of chlorine in smell. Always loved that. Actually another odd bit of nostalgic business is nicnak shops. Places that sold little glass figurines and scents and crystals and all kinds of dumb bullshit. Basically never bought anything from any of them but I loved looking at all the shit anyway

Yeah, my brain was wandering off into more stripmall territory with the Barnes and Noble, but Waldenbooks was the case for me too in ACTUAL malls. Pretty much guaranteed to have a gaming section so you could paw through some D&D books

yeah we live in another era now. I didnt get to go to the halo 2 release but didnt think it was a huge deal. (had school the next day) wasnt until years later i saw the footage of different halo2 midnight releases where i realized the absolute hype and sense of community i missed out on seeing in person.

i remember playing halo 2 online and it being crazy how you couldnt play a single match without people being on their mic/ headset and everyone talked and was social either being super cool or being a giant fucking asshole. was really fun. now when you play a modern game no one even uses voice.
