>becomes the most influential horror game of the last decade
Anonymous No.713067485 [Report] >>713069132
It's hard to think Is of a ball being dropped this hard by game developers honestly. They could probably just re-released the demo with an extra hallway and a new non-trailer ending, put it up for 20 bucks online only, and made a killing for minimal effort. Very strange not to finish Silent Hills with such a successful marketing stunt.

If this was made by anyone but Kojima it would be accurately regarded as the dogshit 3/10 hallway simulator it was

It’s just a new grounds flash game with pretty graphics and Kojima bitching about how Konami didn’t give him infinite money and time to make mgsv

Definitely Outlast, and if not that, then RE7. RE7is by far the most popular Horror game in the last decade but it was very inspired by Outlast specifically. It might've been inspired by PT a little bit but RE7 started development a while before PT was even announced publicly
Anonymous No.713068551 [Report]
>invented the stealth genre
>popularized serious storytelling in games
>created the first major post modern video game and predicted the modern internet
>revolutionized the horror genre with PT
>now hangs out with celebrities and famous directors
Kojima is unstoppable

not really, remind you that, this game released during the height of horror games wave and ended up inspired so many horror games right after that despite just being only a demo. people appreciate its simplicity but it's easy to overlook that when you got 10 millions clones from this.

Something I don't see people talk about it is the film emulation look of the game. I have not seen another game come as close to accurate. It's probably the engine

If you know anything about Kojima he just pissed away money on dumb shit and Silent Hills was clearly in development hell. Now if you're asking why Konami didn't just pick up where he left then I can't answer that, but considering we're going back to classic SH with f I won't blame them.
Anonymous No.713069379 [Report]
Fun fact, companies don't axe projects for no reason
They ask the head of the project what they can bring to the table and why they need the money they ask for

If you're going to mumble to Konami that you need the budget of a Holliwood movie for a horror walking simulator you're obviously getting kicked out

You definitely feel the influence of P.T. in the Silent Hill 2 remake.

It was gonna be shit. It was just something they put together as promotional material, this was never a "demo" of the actual game and it would have been more of kojima's hollywood actor wankery and it was absolutely not gonna be first person. Literally just something they did to scare people with a spooky hallway so they could talk about it, completely detached from what would have been the final product AKA death stranding walking around but with a silent hill theme.

holy zoomer retard alert, it influenced thousands of horror games afterwards, including Resident Evil 7

Just because PT was the best horror game of the last decade doesn't mean it was the most influential. The most influential horror game of the last decade was FNAF.
Anyway, Silent Hills being cancelled was probably a good thing, it was never going to live up to PT anyway.

it influenced thousands of shit indie games that just wanted to exploit the controversie of it being unavailable all the while using few assets just to make a corridor

Anonymous No.713075281 [Report] >>713077527
I never got the PT hype. There were other first person horror games in a similar vein already. Like Outlast, or Amnesia. I never understood what PT did differently. I genuinely thought it was no big loss at all when it was cancelled. It never stood out to me in any way. I wish I kept it installed though on my PS4 at the time. Consoles with it installed started selling for absolutely ridiculous amounts after konami pulled it from the store. Oh well.

>other first person horror games in a similar vein already
It was a robust interactive trailer, not a game.
