I don't know how the gaming industry in Australia works, but the film industry is insanely corrupt and pozzed to hell. If you can get past all the nepotism and corruption, there is a dozen different hoops you need to go through to get funded by the Government or the ABC. Hiring practices that would put Netflix to shame, a banner on your movie and at the beginning of your movie about how you dedicate it to the native peoples etc. Hiring a bunch of different Aboriginal people to play core rolls. The ABC also requires insanely progressive propaganda to be in your content demanding story lines about White Racism and White Surpremacy. Etc.

I'd assume the Games industry is the same if you're trying to get funding.

This is also why the best Australian movies and TV shows are funded by outside of Australia. Mr. Inbetween is a perfect example. Funded by FOX rather than the Australian Government.

It's not really a country that inspires its youth. Much like New Zealand, it's a peaceful country that nothing much happens in, except New Zealand is even more peacefuller (boring). If a retirement home can be represented in the form of countries, they would be New Zealand and Australia.

Financial crisis of 2008 killed the triple A industry in Australia. No one knows why it never recovered. One year later is when we saw Pandemic Brisbane go down in flames in 2009 for example. Krome studios shut down in 2010, THQ Melbourne and THQ Brisbane shut down in 2011. Along with Visceral games Melbourne and Team Bondi that same year. The longest holdout was 2K Australia (of Bioshock fame) that closed doors in 2015.

Because australians may as well be niggers. I work in the australian software development industry. for every developer there are a dozen retards wasting my time who get paid over 100k a year to do so. And my performance isn't measured by delivering quality software it's measured by retarded arbitrary metrics. We are importing jeets and malasians to run software teams and they make corrupt deals with vendors. Australia is completely fucked and we will end up like india shitting in the street.

This is the last RTS game i remember being produced in Australia since Medieval Total War 2 by Creative Assembly/Sega Australia.

Black Labs Games is based up in WA and they made Battlesector. I think Playside which is melbourne based is working on that GoT licensed RTS game too.

because it costs too much to do anything like that here, you can make the same game anywhere else in the world for 50% cheaper because their wages don't have to constantly chase ridiculous rent/house/energy prices like here
same reason no films are made here, until the cost of production is cheaper than america/canada/etc
