Depends on how deep the analysis is, but for a surface level play-don't play review an hour is more than enough to ascertain that something like the Witcher is shit

Seems to work out well enough. Articulates on flaws and you can judge whether they'd be a deal breaker but longer reviews also point out positives.

best way to get a review of a game you're interested in is reading negative comments (on steam for example) and figure out if the issues they have bothers you enough to not buy

You can judge a game's mechanics, aesthetics and soundtrack with under 5 hours of playing. You can't judge the pacing or plot, but those usually correlate with the former.
