Good luck, Don Bluth has no contemporary peers. The early animation industry and the skillset that created it no longer exist. We're talking three generations now of animators that never learned how the greats of the golden age did it, because of increasing layers of computer-assisted tools. They have no foundation because nobody who taught them did either. The only way to recapture that era would be everyone going back to bare metal and recreating the art form from the beginning. But of course, there's no money in that, and it's too slow by today's production standards, so no studio would ever consider bankrolling it.

Do people ever think about how western artstyles have heavily fallen out of favor for more eastern ones? I don't hate anime (though I hate really overly generic ones) but it's kind of weird how dominant eastern art styles are.

So people see anime as a style you can use to tell an adult story in, but western animation is only for children's cartoons. Outside of the latest trend of insipid ironic maturity with over use of swearing and violence.
I'm also not saying that any of that is true, western animation has a lot of examples of adult stories, but it is VIEWED as being for children. Which effects what type of animation style someone will pick to tell a story.

There are very, very few celshaded games that don't look obviously celshaded. Wind Waker, Mythforce, those cutscenes in Arzette. I want something that's nearly indistinguishable from hand drawn. Something that actually LOOKS hand animated like Dragons Lair or Space Ace but you actually have complete control instead of things being a QTE fest.
