True time weapons are not needed, just make a light-aspected weapon and maybe some others if you farm specific enemies a lot.
There's nothing that's actually hard to craft, you barely need the regular time tools for that but it's a bit of QoL to get them.
So you only really need the gathering tools, except the hoe. To get an axe, pickaxe and fishing rod you'll probably be killing what, 20 dons total? Assuming lv5 zones and drop rate gear.

For bows, charged damage is best because the charged heavy attack will pretty much always do 9999 damage if you’re using correct element so no need for actual element up.

For other weapons, use element up on element weapons and then either charged attack or special. Personally I like special for Paladin because their special charges really fast.

Go directly to the grove boss, ignore every generic room that isn't taking you to the boss, once you complete a grove and replant a new one you can select a higher level grove, this process is repeated until you unlock lv 100 groves, where everything is level 100, and you will need the strongest endgame stuff.

btw all the grove drops are the same, you can get everything from a lv25 grove, higher level groves are only for grinding levels.

The grove level is dependent of what year is the seed you planted.
The first one you planted start at Present aka 0 years and ends at 100 years. Completing the latest year unlocks the next 100 years for the seed you can plant until you reach 900 years.
There's no need to complete every room.

Not that much, multiplayer makes troves go by a little faster if you have a good group but mostly it just gets you more goddess fruits which are mostly for cosmetics
If you regularly check and restock your veggie shops on gino and check Don every in-game day and buy a couple of whichever materials you have 0 of, you could hero all lives faster than in multi

Maybe I'm just old but the real problem with crafting isn't difficulty, it's just that after having to craft for like 6 hours in a row my thumb hurts from mashing so much.
I have no idea why because I've played tons of games with mashing inputs but for some reason Fantasy life has given me thumb pains. I don't use that mod but I can only assume it's to alleviate that issue. If it was an actual cheat/easy mode mod it'd probably just increase your actual crafting stat or something so you can complete the craft with less inputs to begin with. That said I've just gotten used to switching to a buddy with 50% faster mashing whenever it comes up and that seems to help a lot already.

in general, yes. you can whittle down any enemy with enough dedication, but gathering has severe limits. as a note, you can change buddies at any teleporter before you choose the next floor, so you CAN switch to 3 miners or something to help you along. also dont forget food (fruit punch. you can buy all of the ingredients. +150 gathering for a few nodes). the time limit for the trove itself doesnt matter. when you quit and come back, the full hour restarts, no penalties.

Combat is generally easier because you can pull and just abuse charged attacks iframes and whittle at the entire room whereas gathering nodes are strictly 1 by 1. If you're undergeared, a single tree can take 2 minutes.

Drop rate caps at 100%. The drop rate you can get on items is Drop Rate + and just increases the base drop rate. IE 1% drop rate at 100% Drop Rate + is just 2%.
There's more to it as well, the game rolls to determine if something drops then picks an item for it to drop, with excellent giving more chances. For this reason even with cheats that max everything to 100% drop rate you might still get fucked out of an item if it shares a drop table. Moss and Fish being one of those shared drops.

Just do your grinding with different buddies constantly from the start. When one buddy get max affinity, swap them out for a new one.

plenty of items are exclusive to groves. Rank 5 Gino is mostly important for getting extra materials from don woolie, assuming you have the item drop buffs to take advantage of it. There's also some new respawnable monsters in Gino that usually only appear in groves, like Big Beak.

And of course The Don (yes why not have two important entities have the same name) will have exclusive recipes now and then that require cashnuts, and will sell those exclusive Grove items randomly for cashnuts too

The game only lists one source of item drops when you bring up that screen in the crafting menu. Like Swolean Island for gold, but it obviously can be found in Ginormosia as well. So I was wondering. I need rainbow feathers or something like that, and it says those come from Treasure Groves. But I suspect it might drop in Ginormosia as well.
