The responsibilities I am free from while playing older games include the following:
>grinding for dogshit cosmetic battlepass rewards
>buying the game twice over for all of the content because it was sliced into microtransactions
>dealing with gacha/lootbox mechanics that are tailored to suck money out of gambling addicts
>looking at intentionally ugly self-inserts and hearing cringy contemporary politics shoved into stories
>hurrying to get all of my fun out of the game that I can while online servers are up before devs pull the plug and my game will cease to be functional
My only responsibility is to boot up the game and enjoy myself on a rainy morning. The game will be just as fun and functional 50 years later, even if I've never opened a loot box or created an online account to agree to data harvesting.

Zoomers have the entire retro catalogue at their fingertips through emulation, meaning they haven't really missed out on anything. If anything zoomers' judgement of old games is more objective since they have modern quality standards as comparison, instead of "which piece of shit shovelware you got for xmas and had to pretend to like"

If zoomers calls it shit it probably is shit, if they call it good it means the game has aged well and likely still holds up, and would become a candidate for the title of a "classic"

There are a bunch of old games I never got the chance to play when I was younger that I played for the first time in recent years and I enjoyed them a lot. Nostalgia is a very lazy argument people always use when they try to defend an industry that is in decline.

I play old games that become new favorites all the time. Played Wild Guns this year for the first time and I would absolutely put it in my 5x5
