bananza probably started out as a bowser game. the last level of odyssey has the bowser section where you play as a big monster with a woman on his shoulder quickly moving around and destroying terrain.
the whole game looks like an update of that final section from odyssey. Like they started from there and then had to reverse engineer a character on to it.
