I think it's bethesda direction, Nu-Doom started strong but turned into some warhammer\blizzard shit for kids. Wolfenstein started strong but was turned into some shit-tier superhero comic with jerking on JFK and fucking "we aren't gonna take it"

i enjoyed every game besides youngblood (since it was locked to 12fps for whatever reason and i couldnt find out how to fix it and moved on) and i also enjoyed indiana jones. machinegames have my trust.

Doom stole the limelight again just like in the 90s by going a few extra steps that Wolf didn't take, such as doing away with console sprint to truly feel run-and-gun by comparison. Machine Games also clearly lost the plot and took their story way too seriously, especially in a series that was always gameplay-first. Journalists praised their decent story in New Order, but it wasn't THAT good to where gaming would never be the same now and we have to make the sequel even more story-heavy, I mean what the fuck? It was good, but it wasn't the main reason why people liked New Order. I think the lukewarm reception Old Blood received from ignorant gaming journalists got in their heads too much.

they are story driven games with great gameplay and fill out that niche, if you look at the great circle you can see they always enjoy making story driven games and i think the 1st nuwolf being a progenitor to doom 4 happened by accident since it was always meant to be a stealth focused game not high pace action game. also i didn't skip a cutscene but unless i'm wrong you can skip all of them, it doesn't have those borderlands 3 esque sections where you are locked in a room with the NPCs until they finish their dialogue

There's a lot of missions in New Order even, but especially New Colosssus, that are nothing more than walk-and-talk sections that are unskippable. Elaborate and nice looking interactive cutscenes, but unskippable and aggravating on replays nonetheless.

I mean, the actual cutscenes are skippable for sure, so you're not wrong either, but if you remember the mission where BJ goes back to his childhood home to reminisce in New Colossus, or the Vault chapter in New Order, or the intro to The Old Blood, it's all just walking or standing around waiting for the action to finally kick in, which I don't care for in my games, even if Nu-Wolfenstein is better at it than other series.
