even though I absolutely despise tab target and have never given wow a real try because of that, I can only concede. despite all its issues it's a pillar i guess, it has a lot of the small things of what I want in the mmos I actually like. if only I enjoyed tab target, I'd probably be okay with the state of mmos.

WoW doesn't look or play like how an MMORPG should. It's like an RTS, except you only control one unit, and instead of mining for resources you do instanced boss fights. To give the illusion that something's actually happening, instead of auto-attacking, you cycle through attacks in a preordained manner, paying little regard to whatever the enemy or your allies are doing.

It also looks terrible. It looks like how an anime fan would draw Western fantasy as a way of making fun of Western fantasy. Like, "Here's what your goofy, gay-ass medieval shit looks like," and you'd be like, "No, it doesn't look like that," but it does if you play Warcraft.

I do remember signing up to gorillion betas and alphas back in early 00's that were fucking crazy.
They all tried to copy either EQ or UO/AC or mix it all up, and some of them were so half-assed it wasn't even funny, kinda like current EA survival/multiplayer slop trend but for MMO. Most of them never came to fruition and eventually faded into obscurity.
Good times, wish I could remember the name of a few, but even the faint memories I have are completely degrading at this point.

If they wanted a anthro race the Gnolls are right there have been practically every expansion in some form or another even as recently as Dragonflight with the Brackenhide gnolls the Vulpera have lore wise done nothing since joining the horde and don't even have dungeon to their name and will likely never have any importance ever.

WoW? Yes. Retail WoW? No.
The only GOOD MMOs are Classic Era/Anniversary/Hardcore, Turtle WoW, and Project Epoch.
The only other okay MMOs are Season of Discovery, Guild Wars 2, RIFT, and Warhammer Online.
From there you get to playable but mediocre: SWTOR and ESO.
