For me, the story and the choice of enemies really make the game feel lackluster.
Honestly, the story is pretty dull, and this is where the anime nonsense really kicks in. The Ashfords are just your typical sadistic high-status characters. This is Claire and Chris' first and only game together, yet it feels so weak. They hardly spend any time interacting or doing anything meaningful on screen.
Then we have the enemies, and it’s mostly the same old stuff from Resident Evil 2, with the addition of those Bandersnatch guys who are just terrible. Their design is awful, and they remind me of something out of Carnevil with their goofy, stretchy limbs. It’s just a really uninspired lineup of foes.
I know Steve is already mentioned in the title, but I have to bring him up again. He’s just the worst. A whiny little brat with daddy issues and possibly the cringiest voice acting since the first Resident Evil. And we’re expected to care about his death like it’s some kind of tragedy? Honestly, it’s more of a relief lmao
