There's something about Mario 64 that's just...unsettling...
There's just a very dark presence in this game. I legitimately feel compelled to pray in the name of Jesus Christ when I walk through certain areas of the castle. And certain areas of the painting worlds too, such as the cabin on Cool Cool Mountain, or the entirety of Wet Dry World which just has a ominous and malevolent aura.
And the way Bowser looks is just... disturbing and horrific.
And the way the toads are transparent, ghostly apparitions until you walk close to them, it's always freaked me out.
There's surprisingly dark lore surrounding the evil looking fire face on the painting for Lethal Lava Land.
And the painting of Peach which then morphs into a painting of Bowser when you get close...gives me chills every time.
And the way that time stops Tick Tock Clock sometimes...
I could go on. There's just something very foreboding and dare I say demonic about Mario 64.
