Why do Fallout fans no longer see the Legion as morally grey?
I thought their advantages over the NCR were pretty obvious: having one guy control everything meant that there was zero corruption and shit gets done fast.

If anything, slavery is just another logistical advantage they have over the NCR, who has to waste resources paying people to not even do the job they were paid for in the first place, like with Helios One. From a purely objective standpoint, slavery is a good thing for the Legion.

If they’re cartoonishly evil, then why does their ending have Vegas doing just fine, while the NCR’s ending has Vegas fall apart? Why does the Legion patrol their roads and wipe out raiders while the NCR doesn’t?

Everyone wipes out raiders and patrols roads, this isn't intrinsic to Caesars Legion. The logic that because they do something so common and elementary is a selling point is ridiculous CL also kills and burns down almost everyone that agrees with their rhetoric which is often twisted. They nuke entire towns or waste manpower and resources when they don't even need to.

Nope. It’s stated in-game that despite charging taxes from towns for the sake of “protecting them from raiders”, most of the time the NCR don’t actually help, and the town needs to fend for itself AND pay the NCR for nothing in return.

I don't get what type of character sides with the NCR. If I'm bad I do the Legion because they're obviously evil and if I'm good I go House/Yesman.
