It's hilarious watching this from a PC gamer perspective, because for PC all digital ownership was liberating. While for consoles it's just more restrictive.

PC by far used to have the best physical releases, the manuals and maps and shit that used to come with PC games were fucking premium and mogged any console shit.
Seeing the hobby degrade to digital downloads only so third worlders can buy $2 games off of steam was ten times more depressing than square and capcom rereleasing ten year old games on key cards

Kys.

Though, similarly said it's hilarious watching it because physical releases was like the one sole reason to ever buy a console nowadays and it's basically gone near completely now.
Genuinely why the fuck would anyone buy consoles when
>No worthwhile exclusives and at most you get less than 5 per entire gen, out of which all follow the same Nintendo or Sony formula for their respective platforms
>Have to actually install the games nowadays rather than just play from the disc
>No more physical media so you have to download it anyway, can't borrow it etc.
>Backwards compatibility is gone or only for select titles so each new generation your collection gets borderline useless since your old Hardware will eventually stop working and obviously old consoles aren't produced anymore
It's just worse, less restrictive and ironically more expensive for the specs PC.
There were some benefits from just having a console before but now it just boggles my mind ANYONE buys them.

Nintendo will always be fine in this regard; they have the games even if they need to make them themselves. Then PC is windows central and anyone with a brain sees that as a dealbreaker until Linux or other OS becomes a thing but don't hold your breath for that in the short term.

you are right, sure. i dislike collectorfags and resellers. regardless, disk space really threw manuals away. they just integrate the manuals into the game itself. im not going to pretend i miss that at all. the ones people reminisc about are the absolute minority. manuals were mostly lazy, and the holders were primarily used to stuff ads and promotions in

I never understood why PC games didn't move from CDs to USBs. They were always just install files anyway, it just felt like the natural evolution that USBs would out CDs as they got vastly larger than CDs but then they tried to push the blu-ray thing which solve CD's having tiny-ass space. It always felt like CD/USB sticks were in competition for which would be the better portable storage. Then it just ended up being lmao cloud storage.

Its because on PC, no matter what version of windows you used it was most likely that your games kept working. With consoles all those carts and discs are tied to a system that's not supported anymore.

Well we already have seen that people are speaking with their wallets, all the best selling physical releases thus far, have been the non gay-key releases. Give it time and maybe it will be a Famicom disk system situation where Nintendo gains some sense and comes up with a better solution and offer multiple size carts for publishers. I know for me, it killed all the hype I had for getting a Switch 2 anytime soon, but its still too soon to tell if this is just testing the waters or permanent. I personally think a solution will come about and we will see a sharp decline in the keys by this time next year and many of these games re-released as complete versions (especially any that Limited Run type companies get the rights to)

The only one I'm bummed about and wanted to own physically was Hogwart's.

Hopefully that gets a re-release when Nintendo pulls their heads out of their asses. But otherwise I'm very selective about what I buy on the Switch and most 3rd party games are just things I enjoy more on my PC.

I'm a physicalfag and even I'm not this delusional. Third parties have been praising the key cards. Microsoft has gone digital only, leaving the PS5 as the only console you can get a physical copy of the GEARS OF WAR remaster on. Steam is too powerful and the gamers outside of the west and japan don't give a flying fuck about physical collecting and frankly never have. Its unironically over bro.

That's one fucking sad list. Usually they have at least 1 flagship exclusive that makes you want to buy the console when it comes out.
All they have is new Donkey Kong, new Mario kart, and a bunch of re-re-releases. Couldn't they even scrap together a mainline Mario?
Do retards really rush out to buy this just to play the exact same games over and over again every gen with marginally improved performance?

Why people are loosing their marbles when Nintendo did it, when Sony and Microsoft have been doing it since the ps4 era? Heck microsoft has been doing it since the 360.
Games don't weight 15 gb anymore we have games that literally 100 gb of space, and millions of polygons ans assets, even when developers try to compile and reduce space (Nintendo was practically the only one who was perfect doing it, everyone else sacked major balls on it) makes me remember about resident evil 64 version.
In ps5, all the games are just keys, because games now are so big you need to install them on your console.
