Yeah, I think once the 3D Pandora's box has been open, it's difficult to go back to it even if it does look better. So, I think it'll have to stay looking 3D but they also need to try make a large game that works on a switch(2). So, that also puts some limitations on it. I would remake Gen 1 but with much larger areas, no random battles, make Pokémon encounters somewhat rare, and add mons from later gens if they fit with the area.

Create games for two distinct audiences:

The absolute bare minimum is improving the environment art and animation work. The way they compromise on the visuals is unbelievable. GF, TPC, Creatures, and Nintendo should each and all be humiliated by the way SV looks, not to mention SWSH, and all of the 3DS games. I don't know how they haven't gotten it together by now.
