Mother 2 was gonna be a lot more different than Mother 1 and Mother 3 went through drastic revisions including artstyle to subvert what a Mother game should even look like
Say what you want about the most popular Mother inspired games like Undertale, Lisa, and Omori

Even more so than games like Chrono Trigger, FF7, OOT, etc. Just the concept of the few people capable of being able to save the world being your kid self and your friends, embarking on a life changing adventure across the globe where you can do things like stay at fancy hotels and visit important locations alongside having psychic powers was just a radically cool concept for me as a kid.
