Got a serious question WHY does Klonoa outright not sell? Not even the recent collection sold good on ALL consoles. When you can't even sell one million units like that there's got to be a genuine reason. Mega Man Collection sold well granted Mega Man Collections include more games a piece. But then you have the success of 2D games like Bloodstained which sold one million units across all consoles.

And then you have to remember that other 2D games sell good like Undertale despite those games being junk. I can't help but wonder why Klonoa refuses to sell well. Is it the babyish fictional language and character designs?

The series honestly outright sells badly. That's seriously it. And since the creator of Klonoa left Namco there's even less incentive to try anything with the brand. And it doesn't help Bandai Namco has superior selling games like Elden Ring, Tekken, and all those trite anime licensed game deals.

I've outright seen other people bounce off the games because the gameplay bores them. I think the theory is fine- not much cool movement, but puzzles in exchange. The thing is the puzzles are generally not very engaging

I've mentioned it in these threads before amidst the horny posting and I know some anons didn't like the idea because >remake
but I really feel the best chance at being a hit klonoa has would be a remake of klonoa heroes to reduce screen crunch, improve presentation, improve gameplay, etc
keep it budget tier still, but otherwise, gameplay-wise it gives you something more to bite into than the simple puzzles, and story-wise, I don't think there can ever be a good follow up to klonoa 2 so might as well do this sort of reboot where the setting is just a more normal fantasy world and you can have all the characters together

Needs more marketing towards its target audience (kids). Klonoa’s design appeals to 6-12 year olds who like Japanese cartoons. The games got like 0 marketing in the West. I bought Klonoa 2 because I played a demo of it on one of those Jampack demo discs and thought it was cool when I was like 10. Fell in love with the full game and my sister and I played the hell out of it.

Idk if people actually get off to it or if they just do it because it’s a kind of demented tradition. Either way, it kind of cements the series being dead in the water. A game clearly meant to appeal to children being celebrated instead by horny furries really makes one have to wonder whether the series is better off without a new entry.
