I like to think of Kris and Noelle as the opposites of each other.
Kris, when not controlled by the player, and from what people have said about his personality, seems to be a big-time prankster and edgelord, and also very antisocial. However, Kris is repeatedly shown to genuinely look after his friends and family, someone who would literally take a bullet for them. Noelle is the opposite of that, she's all fluffy unicorns and rainbows on the outside but that's merely a facade to hide her malice.
