Pokemon have size differences is my favorite feature.

The fact that this is a novel feature in the profitable franchise on the planet is a bummer

>the size differences do nothing

I don't mind the feature but the variation in sizes is ridiculous. A large Growlithe is bigger than a small Arcanine in SV.

Why should they?

Except they do.
For exactly one Pokemon line.

Because as it is, it's a pointless cosmetic. Size should change with level or be reflective of stats.

Have you considered that people like customization? I wouldn't mind IVs effecting size, but a pokemon should not have higher base stats because of its size.

I never understood why they did this, but didn't do the same for its version counterpart Trevenant. In fact I didn't even know these things had size differences until 2 generations after they came out.

Only if you're a coward. If my 30ft-long Wailord wants to nap in the living room, I’m not stopping him. You just have to learn to live dangerously.

Wailord is one of the biggest pokemon, but it isn't in any game that has size differences. One of the biggest pokemon in Scarlet and Violet is Eternatus, but legendary pokemon can't have size variations.

How big is Totem Mawile?

It's my favourite but I fear it might just eat me if I fit in its jaws. I don't mean it in a fetish way.

Totem pokemon are a small number of specific pokemon that are sort of wild gym leaders in Alola. Legends: Arceus had alpha pokemon that were substantially larger but Mawile wasn't in Gen IV so there weren't any around. ZA is all about mega evolution though so odds are good that there'll be Mawile there and probably Alpha's again given those were quite popular.

Doesn't it factor into moves like heavy slam and low kick?

Not that I'm aware of. I think they use the pokedex weights, which are always listed as being the same. Not a range.
