>Project Zomboid
>Half-Life
>Resident Evil Outbreak

Zombie apocalypse game that takes place mid-outbreak, where you have to work with friends to find an escape. You play through different scenarios (stuck in the middle of the city, trapped in a hospital, barricaded in a mall, etc) with different methods of escaping based on what you find while working with others. Maybe you can find keys to a military truck, but have to fight through a horde down in the parking garage. Maybe you find a way to radio an escape helicopter, but you have to gather a certain amount of valuables for the pilot to believe it's worth risking. Maybe you get enough weapons together to outright fight through to the city's outskirts.

Gameplay would be detailed scavenging, building up your character, and fighting off zombies. Over time the environment would change, making for more mutated undead variants, issues like the power going off or rogue military sweeping through, or an outright storm kicking up that would make it hard to hear zombies or navigate the streets. The environments would be made with multiple ways to get through them (vents, keys to be found, breakable doors).

I basically just want an ideal, perfect version of RE Outbreak honestly. I always loved that game in concept, but actually playing it was a mess.

when I was a kid, my friend and I liked Star Wars Battlefront and RTS games.
We had this conversation about a game where players could command soldiers from an RTS point of view, manage logistics and all of that, and then you could switch to playing the game from an infantry perspective.
I think there was a game that had something like this, Battlefield 2145 or something like that, but from what I read about it it didn't seem like the RTS side of things was robust.

It's still a cool idea to me, but it's the kind of thing that probably wouldn't appeal to anybody these days.

>you might like mount and blade, it is sort of an RTS that lets you take the reigns of the soldiers in your units.
Yea I've had my eye on Mount and Blade. Kenshi as well. Planetside.
But none of these are really what we were envisioning.
The key thing is having hundreds of AI units.
So there's always a huge battle going on. The "commander" player can try to control the flow of the battle by giving orders to the AI troops, dropping in supplies, vehicles, and more troops, etc., but it'd also have to be a solid FPS shooter. So heroics from an infantry player would also turn the tide of a battle.
And then the idea would be that you could swap these roles at any time, and infantry players could communicate and coordinate with the commander player.

The spirit of the conversation my friend and I were having were we were trying to imagine how cool videogames were going to be 10 years in the future, so it's bitter sweet to remember.

i got another one.
film noir style RPG. combat is derived mostly from bravely default, with some more turn planning/shenanigans like in sands of destruction (or FFX) with some of the combo stuff from sands of destruction. tie in some light tactical RPG elements like from devil survivor, some map making like from etrian odyssey, bullets in battle like in wild arms, and some VN elements of devil survivor and ace attorney.
looks like if urasawa made a film noir inspired look, but with some coffee stain art for extra flavour.

I have autistic fantasies about an ultra videogame that combines all the open worlds ever made into one super massive world, separated by gigantic oceans. It would be a second life-style MMO where no fast travel is allowed, and you have to plan trips like IRL if you want to meet up with other players. Also, the graphics would be fully pathtraced, with appropriate physics on everything, and can be played in VR. There'll even be a new type of VR headset that allows you to sleep in it, so that you can camp in virtual worlds every night in max comfy mode. Imagine napping under the Hyrule stars one night, or Mira from XCX the next. Or even simulate a penthouse in a GTA world.

I'm not going to make an edit but it's something like this:

>Mahjong MMORPG
>You run around an online version of Shinjuku and you go into different Mahjong parlors
>Parlors are owned by players and they can have their own rules
>Manage your bankroll by beating people in Mahjong, buy clothes and accessories for your character with that bankroll and eventually open up your own parlor.
>Manage your parlor like in a business tycoon game and have it compete with other parlors

The style should be cell shaded and chibi style characters

how are they conflicting? final fantasy combines everything you listed fairly well. lots of other popular stories combine these things, star wars for instance. there is nothing incongruent about high technology fantasy (wouldn't call it sci-fi, that is reserved for a different kind of narrative). also, nowhere in my image does it show magic.

>isnt final fantasy steampunk?
different FF games are different. earlier games are just sward and sorcery. FFVI is a world where magic is long gone, tech (kind of steampunkish) has been the dominant force and magic is being returned to the world (mostly by evil forces). FFVII is magic and scifi tech. FFVIII is that but more. FFX is almost an inverse of VI, magic is the dominant force and robotics users are shunned as heretics of the church. but most FF games have some blend of high technology and magical elements.
>i just dont really like sci-fi fantasy, especially if its star wars
most things that are called "sci-fi" are just high tech fantasy. the term has been muddied by marketers and people who don't know what they are talking about.

Unironically Minecraft and Fortnite.
You could have a base game like minecraft which allows you to build with a limited pallet of blocks. You'd only be allowed to place so many blocks before having to wait for your already placed blocks to be destroyed.
And you could have it be a battle royal shooter which actually includes building forts, which fortnite fails to do since people just build as a means to a quick advantage of height nowadays
