Until recently, I kept holding out hope that the FF7R garbage was a result of the unholy Namaguchi/Toriyama/Nomura at the helm, and that other SE departments could maybe still do FF9 justice. But seeing how shit the FFT barely-remake looks, I'm done with the copium. Just burn down SE and let the IP be picked up by somebody else. WotC is a giga-pozzed western company and they demonstrated that they care more about FF and have a better understanding of what made it good than anyone at SE does.

After seeing what they're doing with FFT, we'll get the old FF9 android app updated to work on newer phones and possibly forced voice acting since fan mods are jumping on that and could potentially cause SE to miss out on making money from such a thing

I played it again recently because of that improved ATB hack that came out. Moguri is objectively the better way to play it since the original really is too slow. But its presentation is so shit in comparison, even with mods to try and fix the menus and font a little. I don't know how far the nostalgia would carry you if you don't have any.
