I replayed this recently and it’s incredibly clear that Harry is meant to be a ghost, especially with his interactions with Cibyl. Why do fans keep going on that it’s all “in le mind”?

You could probably interpret it as a sequel to the bad ending if you wanted to. But so many of Harry’s interactions with the NPCs in shattered memories make more sense with him as a ghost than him being on Cheryl’s mind. All his interactions with Cibly have her constantly being confused about how he keeps conveniently disappearing and how he’s supposed to be living at an address already occupied by others until she actually starts digging in to the whole thing and realise that Harry’s supposed to have died years ago. None of that makes sense if it’s all Cheryl’s imagination, it does make sense if Harry is a ghost interacting with the real life Cibly who gets more confused about Harry’s situation. Similarly the game makes it clear that the ghosts you can photograph throughout the game are supposed to be “remnants of negative energy” and they reward you with audio and text messages that are mostly unrelated to Cheryl but helps flesh out the town itself. Again, this makes more sense if Harry as a ghost can sense this stuff, not so much if Cheryl is just making up unrelated scenarios in her mind.
