As a website it was way more intuitive than the other mod sites or forums at the time and rose very quickly to dominate the Bethesda games modding scene. It also helped further popularize modding which solidified it as the go to place for many new games when they opened up the website to support basically anything.

The only modding interface that is more intuitive would be something like steam workshop where an end user doesn't really have to do any input to install the mod besides hitting "subscribe" but steam has stricter contenter guidelines for mods despite literally allowing porn games.
