You are objectively correct, at least in the case of online discussion. 3rd parties being introduced caused a wave of retards that don’t even like Nintendo or Super Smash Bros. shitting up threads with their opinions/demands. They have no actual positive feelings towards the series, and are only involved because they want to see a character they like shilled in a popular game. Plus you have discord trannies raiding threads constantly.

Sonic, Megaman, Pacman and such feel like they fit the vibe. They're iconic enough on their own that it doesn't feel like the game is marketing them at you.
As soon as you start adding third parties that I've never heard of then you have a problem.
