The evidence isn't good enough because the strength of evidence in these studies never goes up, and regardless of how supportive their communities are, or how strong the local laws are in protecting them, mental health outcomes are relatively similar for all transgender individuals. They claim they're happier, but they make just as many complaints of rough mental health days as they ever have, regardless of environment.
They organize into communities with maladaptive internal jargon, and behave much like communities of eating disorder sufferers, egging each other on.
I'm actually paying attention to what's going on, not just the headlines or the jargon. People are suffering more because of this, not less. I want it to stop. Not because it makes me uncomfortable, but because I don't like seeing people chase a delusion and treat it like an aspiration. I don't want people to suffer.
