World Of horror. You have to deal with people complaining about how abandoned and incomplete the game is even when it has a shitload of contents and it has mods in mind too and a local schizo that was kicked out of the discord for dev backsitting. This. Game had finished development for like 2 years until the developer trooned out and added the new part. Not saying it's bad gameplay wise either, the challenge was fun and I didn't even know about the transformer stuff until after I completed it all, but just bevause the dev tron'd out doesn't make the previous parts of the game any less about just dealin with anxiety, just means that the dev couldn't deal with his anxiety for 2 years so tried to become a woman in a vain attempt to fix his mental state. Many such cases.

I played it, my cousin's a bit that way and it's her favourite game so I played through it while I was visiting. Easily the most tumblr thing I've ever touched, and there are a few things I'm just not onboard with, but on the whole it was a very cool game and I'd encourage anyone interested to give it a try and overlook its obvious superficial issues.

I am opposed to transgender philosophy on the basis that it's openly bad for the people who stake their mental health on it. I am willing to change my mind if it can be sufficiently explained to me how GID individuals differ from other image disorder sufferers such that the ideal treatment for them is fundamentally different. I don't support cruelty towards, or harassment of such individuals. I just can't shake the feeling that supporting this stuff is like giving an anorexic liposuction or Ozempic to chase their maladaptive target instead of addressing the underlying problems that create the unhealthy mindset in the first place. The whole “MC is disoriented, so YOU have to be disoriented” mechanic is clever in theory, but in practice it just feels like the game punishes you for engaging with it efficiently. I get that they want to sell the whole time-distortion angle, but there’s gotta be a better way than hiding potentially important dialogue behind a system that’s basically telling you "lol you shouldn’t have gone fast." I played this for just over two hours and completed chapter 3 & the retro minigame and I just thought it was mediocre. To be honest though I think knowing the dev trooned out and retroactively made his character trans rubbed me the wrong way and made me enjoy it less. I refunded it.

I loved Celeste. I find the experience mostly relaxing with the beautiful music and visuals. It was very hard but even I could beat the normal levels.
It had nothing to do with trannies back when I played it, other than having a tranny composer (who's very talented, wish is the only thing I care about). It didn't have the extra content just the base levels.
The main dev made a clown out of himself and it weirds me out too. His decision to make the game a self insert retroactively, make the character a tranny, and change his name is unironically disrespectful to the game. The main idea of the game was simple and generic enough so everyone could sympathize with it, and it wasn't offensive at all. They threw that out of the window.
Anyway just pirate it and play the original levels of you enjoy it.

LGBT shit aside, the whole gameplay mechanic around looping gets old quickly. Even if it's "the point" and despite what they added to skip shit, it was tiresome. Grind is grind pointless or not. JRPG combat was fine, but becomes almost as much of a chore ("the point"?). Story and writing was okay at best with lots of detail.
Disappointed they didn't try to expand on the lore with the lost country, for a while I thought that background with the looping might be more than the obvious "oh no it's actually a mental breakdown" but oh well..
