Anyone critical of games agrees that RDR 2 is shallow and repetitive gameplay-wise.
I enjoyed it well enough on my first playthrough, the story is engaging and I really liked most of the characters and the open world is fun to explore and the attention to detail is bar none.
However even on my first playthrough the overabundance of "let's have 60% of this story mission be going from point A to point B so dialogue can be delivered" was very apparent and the actual combat sections have to have eight trillion enemies (immersion breaking) because just popping heads and pause-healing makes the game so easy

The Last of Us invented nothing and is the prime example of pointless cinematic retardation put into the form of a video game. It's slow. The game mechanics suck and have SHIT hit detection (I tried it on console and it fucking sucked shit). It's cutscene to cutscene over the shoulder movie simulator #1 inspired by the walking fucking dead and le dad and daughter storyline #2420420. And in the sequel, the story in TLOU2 is all about upsetting the player just in a vain attempt to be provocative instead of being fun first and foremost. And even then it's not even provocative it's just forced garbage.

Compare it to something like Ace Combat Zero, which is also about revenge. It sets up a complex world where war has been justified, you fight a war for pay as a mercenary alongside your closest friend until the terror of it all forces the protagonist and his closest buddy (you) to drift off into opposing fields of view. You get a new buddy, and in the final confrontation where you should be done fighting, you're left fighting for your own revenge on your old friend. TLOU2 would pretend that revenge would be bad because it's revenge, instead of the more realistic situation in Ace Combat where it's been set up as a cycle of violence + revenge going from both the national level to the personal level that the antagonist has to realize to stop being an antagonist in the ending cutscene. You change his very worldview and dispel his extremism through a fight where you're nothing but the hero for wanting the best for everyone and to avenge your new buddy. In TLOU2 you're the bad guy for defending those you love, because you wanted to live.

TLOU sucks and TLOU2 sucks even harder.

Its worth watching as long as you understand that Lynch fucked off for most of season 2 and it temporarily loses its appeal for a lot of people
