that's a good thing, look at the croc remake for example, they just lazily gave the models more polygons and used AI to upscale and reuse all textures, at that point you might as well just emulate the original with a CRT filter

The problem with croc was tank controls tho and it was literally a tech demo. Argonaut wanted to sell the engine.

Theres a pretty cool 2 hour video on YouTube where the producer of croc goes over a beta build of croc 2 and explains what they had trouble with and what their goals were. Its pretty rad. Croc 2 was more or less made because no one bought the engine so might as well use it. Part of why the games are so different in structure and style.

this happens to include a lot of artists working in video games
ubisoft are the worst for overdesigning characters but any f2p game with operators and cosmetics and yes, remakes especially, from all developers across the industry, kind of suffer with it
