In fromshit games, your main defense mechanic consistently comes out on button release and not button press. Which effectively adds an inconsistent input lag and moves your defense aptitude from reaction test to Pavlov's dog style brainless memorization test.
Perhaps it was barely relevant in their early games, however, now they think that they are designing dedicated 100% action games, and for action games this shit is a crime against game design and whoever is responsible for it needs to be blacklisted from game development for life. After some point le complicated enemies approach just makes a player feel like a cuck midget who just constantly rolls on a floor cowering from enemies who get to be cool and badass.
