Iโ€™ve been feeling kind of burned out on games these past few weeks, so I havenโ€™t been playing much. I've been having more fun watching toku, dramas, or movies these days. Still, I am enjoying my time with Doom right now. Same with DonPachi and Espgaluda; Iโ€™m having fun being terrible at shmups, as always.

It's very fun theorycrafting builds, but 100% of the gameplay boils down to holding tab or 's' until you win/lose. Land of Achra looks like it's gonna be some sort of Conquest of Elysium-like, which is interesting (but also pretty boring compared to Dominions, teebeeaych). Does make me hope someone with enough autism creates Path of Achra EA nations for Dominions though.

my birthday was a few days ago and i bought a ton of games off of the internet, so some of these are just me making sure i didn't get scammed or trying out a game for the first time
and then there's rayman origins and sega all-stars racing the wii versions of both which i started re-playing, partially to make sure a new controller i got actually works, and partially because my old wii died a little while ago, taking all my old saves with it, and i need to beat all those games again on my new one.
i want to focus on mostly DERQ Z and Raidou, though

Friend of mine roped me into Palworld, honestly it's fine in co-op compared to how it bored me when I tried it solo. I played other demos besides Dead As Disco in NextFest but I've put nearly 8 hours into it just dumping MP3s into Infinite Disco.

Love Mega Man 3. I don't think it's even a Top 5 classic game but people shit on it too much for the Doc Robot stages; the only big issue is the slowdown.

Transformed is so good, I don't know if Crossworlds will feel as good but it's at least trying to go for something closer to it than TSR so I'm interested. Fuck yeah. IMO 3, 4, and 5 are the best. 2 was weird. 6 kinda shat the bed, there are no boss fights since you finish them off in 5 seconds because of how the scoring system works.

Yasha's fun but there's VERY little variety when it comes to stage and enemy varieties. The game also expects you to beat it three times, going through the same bosses with virtually no variation between each chapter, in order to face the final-final boss and complete a character's content. Think it also got reviewbombed because even though it's a Taiwanese game, it didn't acknowledge Taiwan as an independent country or some shit, I dunno. The demon oni loli is very cute though.

SH2 is faithful in terms of story beats, and I kinda like the new puzzles, it gives me something to do besides solving the exact same puzzles from the original version. Angela and Maria look like shit, but at least James' voice actor is fantastic. (the others are hit or miss) The DeS remake is mostly a straight upgrade, aside from the art style changes here and there. It's barely noticeable in motion. The ability to send any item to Stockpile Thomas at any time is a huge godsend. A few other little quality-of-life features as well. I hate to say it, but in terms of functionality, it's a better game.

Ageha for the same reasons as the ones you mentioned. Tateha just felt a tad bit too slow to me.

>(still haven't played 3RE).
You should. I personally like it better than NGB. It's got some really fun, high speed combat that makes it very unique. It is also very challenging, which I do really like. It's also the only game in the series where the female characters are actually fun to play as.
It does have some flaws, though, since it was made in only seven months or so to salvage the mess that was vanilla NG3. It does somehow still manage to be a really fun action game, but I'd definitely say it's still the weakest out of the trilogy, objectively speaking.

Gives me Nioh vibes a fair bit, but visually I liked the game quite a bit/ how visceral it felt too. Wasn't really as difficult as other soulslikes if the challenge factor is a big deal for you, but the presentation was especially good.

I'd probably check it out if there was an option to toggle the original music and if I owned a PS5, that is the one change that bothered me the most about the DeS remake but I can overlook it to some degree if the gameplay is more polished/has better QoL.

I haven't had the time to play much recently, so most of my list consists of roguelikes and MMOs that I can easily play in short bursts while still completing a run.
Brothership and Scribblenauts were the only games I played for the first time this year. I need to change that, I generally prefer single player games, but starting one is a daunting task which I always procrastinate unless the game just came out.

I've been playing a decent amount of Rastan. I got a 2CC yesterday and I'm pushing for a 1CC eventually. I can sometimes get to the final fortress I'm Cadash, but I eventually fall before ever getting to the boss on a single credit. With the Warrior sometimes I get through the white ropers. With the Ninja the two small plats with the white ropers often just stop my run.

I've been playing a bit of Toki as well. I beat it before, but I didn't do a 1CC on it so that'll be neat to do. I eventually have to get back into WipEout Pulse. Pretty great game and there seems to be a lot of events you can do. I cannot fathom how I'll do the tracks on Phantom/A rank.

Sadly no, but hey, they got Yamaoka to do the soundtrack yet again, and there's even some new tracks. (and new endings) I wouldn't have bought it if he wasn't involved.
>I can overlook it to some degree if the gameplay is more polished/has better QoL.
Off the top of my head:
>it feels less "forward floaty" when you're falling
>holding Down on the D-pad cycles right back to your first equipped item, a la DS3 and DS Remastered
>there's an option for Classic filter
>option to repair all equipment at once (I don't remember that being in the original)
>"performance mode" runs at 60fps and still looks great; the more 'cinematic' mode looks somewhat better at the expense of a solid framerate, but who the fuck would use it?
And, as mentioned, sending shit to Thomas at any time. I remember my first DeS run.
>beat Garl Vinland
>have to toss a lot of items just so I could carry his armor and shield back to Thomas for storage

Mighty Final Fight is mostly doable because of there being multiple guaranteed & random ways to get lives in a run, but I did manage 1CCs with both Cody & Haggar so I'll take the win even if the original FF is far from a 1CC for me. I think the next-closest beat-em-up I could do is Ninja Warriors Once Again which I've gotten as far as the Final Boss on, and then Final Fight 3; another one where you can get more lives if you scoremaxx but definitely more involved. I've seen people 1CC games that absolutely beat my ass though, like Sengoku 3 or Spikeout.

>I am a Rachel Defender
Honestly, the Rachel chapters in Sigma 1 are the main reason why I prefer Black over Sigma. It's not necessarily that Rachel is unfun to play as, it's just that her chapters screw up the pacing of the game, in my opinion. I wouldn't mind it as much if you could at least skip them on subsequent playthroughs. Sigma 1 would probably be my favorite version if that were the case, since I do like most of the other changes.
>Ironically Ryu is in their place in 4 seemingly
Yeah, it sucks. I'm just really hoping that Ryu will have more than one weapon, and that the game will have 3RE's Chapter Challenge, so you can play as any character you want in any chapter.

Yeah Rachel's chapters are pretty ass (even in 2, half of it is an elevator and for some reason they gave HER the boss that's in the air for over half the fight when she has the worst tools for that of any of the playable characters) but I just really like her heavy-hitting playstyle with the hit-grab enders and crowd control tools. Heavy weapons on Ryu usually don't hit quite the same (either they're just a nudge faster or slower than Rachel on offense) outside of maybe 2's scythe once it's upgraded.

OP here again and yeah, agreed. Ageha gives me a much easier time with several very dense patterns as well as bosses, since he can move entirely away from giant globs of bullets that Tateha would more likely have to deal with and tap-dodge through.
Man. It's fucking awesome to see a fellow Espgaluda 1 player on here. I liked 2, especially Black Label, but nothing beats the original in my eyes.

I use Ninja just because he's the closest to my preferred playstyle so he's just so much fun but I've attempted Raiden 1CCs and gotten 4-5 stages deep. Thing is I have no clue how Raiden is supposed to take out Banglar when he literally can't avoid the damage zones sometimes and his throw hitboxes can be so picky. Yaksha is way too complex for my brain but she's super fun too.

i admittedly haven't played the original, so i don't know how it compares, but the remaster is like a normal action RPG, where the combat revolves around alternating your light and heavy attacks, with the added layer of stunning enemies by hitting their weaknesses and being able to control your demons mid-fight. i think you might enjoy it more.

2, like I said, is a GOOD game, and rewards you in a similar manner to Ketsui (rewards aggressive point-blank kills for extra green gems) but... The first one just clicks with me more. Stage layouts, boss bullet patterns, aesthetic/ art style, and the soundtrack. 2's OST in my opinion is mostly forgettable except for stage 5 in Black Label mode. Playing as Seseri was fun, and Arrange mode was kinda cool, played similarly to Ikaruga.

Ryujinx for Kirby and the rest of the switch backlog I haven't gotten to yet.
For TotK I switched to the Eden emulator because Ryujinx was giving me issues with flickering NPCs that seems to happen with certain AMD cards. Eden has given me some very minor graphical errors like purple lines in some pieces if water, also an AMD issue, but it's not nearly as bothersome.

Last 9 I finished.
VC2 took me 2 months, enjoyable game with a lot of grinding that kinda ruins it but fun otherwise.
Hellblade was alright, engaging combat but quite simple, the norse mythology stuff was just kind of comical to me.
Earthworm Jim wasn't very good, felt like it's carried by everything but the gameplay that final level angered the fuck out of me
DKC Trilogy are all great, 2 > 1 > 3 for sure.
Gunpoint was pretty cool for a short game, was fun to try and figure it all out and was surprised it's not more well known.
Link's Awakening was fantastic, never finished it as a kid so it was great to go back to it and really finish it.

Yeah, DOJ is pretty great. My favorite DDP game. Have you played Resurrection? The black label arrange mode (Ketsuipachi) is really fun.

It has enough SP content to keep you glued for a while (and raging like a motherfucker to get the unleashed goals for drifting and time trials)
Get it for cheap, handling is a massive improvement over the floaty crap that was the 1st one.
