Turns out people don't want turn based RPGs after all. They want rollslop/parryslop disguised as turn based RPGs.

I finished Clair Obscur and didn't bother with Metaphor. Part of the reasoning for me is that Clair Obscur isn't 300 hours long.

Methaphor was one of the biggest let down of the past 10 yrs, it could have been anything and it choose to be sterile, the god like demo was nothing like rest of the game, since I hated P5 I refuse to support ATLUS any longer, I still have PTSD from the fall of square, the hope turning into shit down my throat, again and again.
They spoke loud and clear, I am not the user they make their games for

The truth you don't want to accept is... COE33 succeeded because it doesn't have anime on the cover and isn't tied down by tired old Japanese tropes/whatever passes for humor over there. People see anime on the cover of a game and that shit straight doesn't exist to them. Doesn't even register.
Expedition 33 is literally the first RPG in decades that actually treats the average, everyman player with a shred of respect by dropping the anime shit, deleting the Japanese cringe "humor", and giving them something that looks more like a high quality TV series than generic, disposable, seasonal anime.

It cuts the standard JRPG filler too, the sidequests are maybe 2 minute long distractions that are often just jumping puzzles of some sort. It's a shorter game that people can actually beat instead of the 100 hour JRPGs we currently get. It's a rare JRPG that respects the players time so that means normalfags can actually beat it before the next FotM game happens that they end up dropping everything to play.

I'm part of Metaphor's primary target audience, and I didn't buy it for two reasons.

1: I had just got done playing SMTV: Vengeance and wasn't in the mood for another Atlus game so soon, and

2: I know Atlus' bullshit well enough by this point to just wait for them to release the real goddamn version of the game

There's probably more people like me out there.
