>>713211232 (OP)nightreign surprised me. thought that elden ring gameplay would be waaay too fucking shallow to make a game solely focused on action around, and I really fucking hated my first run, but in the end it grew on me quite a lot. the combat is still incredibly shallow, but all the other gameplay elements are ironically what carries is, just the loop of deciding where to go next, trying to clear efficiently, seeing how much you can overextend... and none of the bosses are designed around "die 10 times and try over and over again", instead the game ironically feels a bit like demon's souls where there's 40 minutes of gameplay between "save points" so they can't expect you to be able to just tackle the boss over and over again. (ok tbf demon's souls had short cuts)
