I imagine it stems from the inadequacy instilled in the modern man. Women have gone on for years about the unattainable standard of beauty that has been indoctrinated via portrayal in media, while similarly I believe modern moderately intellectual men have been similarly pigeonholed into a state of inadequacy, so they get off on women being absolute degenerate whores who sexually betray them.

Because NTR is the zoomer generation's archetypical story. Romance simply doesnt exist in their repertoire. What example of a romance story have they previously encountered that they can pull themes from? "Expectations subverted" IS their expectation. Their entire childhood, cartoons movies books tv etc, are all examples of cheating and broken relationships and one-sided crushes that are unrequited. This is the only story they know, so it is the story they write.
