Yes, and I have no idea how he hasn't gotten in trouble with Valve yet. The only thing I can think of is that no one has made them aware of it yet. He also has gone past the 6 months Steam requires EAs that just launch to update the game at least once though he "technically" got past that by unironically arguing that a single Christmas set was a meaningful update. Kissoft is playing dangerously close to fire and it seems almost inevitable that the game is going to get booted off Steam at this point. I genuinely doubt this guy is going to update the game in any meaningful fashion since it's clear as day now that he had no intentions of finishing this project.

I love how literally all he needed to do to not have this blow up in his face and permanently damage his online presence was to simply dripfeed small content drops for a year or two and declare the game finished. He had, in fact, been updating the game. But it was in a public beta build instead of the regular branch. You needed to know to opt into it, but it was public. Since the slider thing revealed a second secret Patreon beta branch, he revoked access to the public test build. None of the content from said test build ever made it into the stable release, meaning he hasn't just not updated the game, but removed half a year's worth of updates that are now inaccessible.

The most bizarre thing about this whole thing is how that guy ended up getting such a devout public defense team to shill for him while he actively fucks them over and milks them for money. I mean how much of a fucking autist do you have to be for not only thanking someone for fucking you over but actively defend them doing so.

Steam allows Pateon builds so long as store-bought owners have access to the content in some way. You cannot advertise Patreon on the store page nor are you allowed to gatekeep content and updates behind Patreon unless you are willing to use an in-game subscription service model. I'm having a hard time finding it in the FAQ but they explicitly highlight this several times public statements and to games developers who put their games on Steam and already have a Patreon build.

Kissoft not only gatekept content and updates to only his Patreon build, he actively removed the beta branch that had at least some of the updates on it. He violated store policy twice now and he still hasn't removed the Patreon exclusive version so he's technically STILL violating his first offense.

A prototype should look and feel like a rough prototype. Also if I had to guess your workflow is backwards. You get an idea for the game and try to code it based on that idea, but you need the inverse: to form your game ideas based on your understanding of the code. Let's say your character has an inventory, it's just arrays and other code that gives the illusion of the player interacting with an inventory system. My only other suggestion is take notes on what you're learning. It'll help you develop your own little coding bible full of hotkeys and shortcuts based on your understanding of the systems. That way you can build on it as you go instead of crawling through 600 pages of the documentation for that one trick you don't quite remember

I understand that. I can enumerate a list of selectable keywords, and have them visually place the puzzle elements in the grid. Then initiate into the actual puzzle interface where you can select the linking pieces. But there's something wrong with the grid or the pieces that I just can't figure out.
