Kissoft is trying so desperately hard to try and paint himself as some kind of victim before he publicly abandons this game. I pray to god Steam forces him to refund everyone who bought his game when their customers start reporting the game is abandoned. He should have just ditched the game and gone radio silent if he was planning on abandoning it. Making a public display of it ensures he's going to have legal troubles now.
>patreon version
isnt this against steams rules now?
>>713213245Yes, and I have no idea how he hasn't gotten in trouble with Valve yet. The only thing I can think of is that no one has made them aware of it yet. He also has gone past the 6 months Steam requires EAs that just launch to update the game at least once though he "technically" got past that by unironically arguing that a single Christmas set was a meaningful update. Kissoft is playing dangerously close to fire and it seems almost inevitable that the game is going to get booted off Steam at this point. I genuinely doubt this guy is going to update the game in any meaningful fashion since it's clear as day now that he had no intentions of finishing this project.

>>713213132 (OP)>Kissoft is trying so desperately hard to try and paint himself as some kind of victim before he publicly abandons this game.I love how literally all he needed to do to not have this blow up in his face and permanently damage his online presence was to simply dripfeed small content drops for a year or two and declare the game finished. Like just release a single enemy and spell with 2 or 3 costumes every 3 months and it would have been easy as shit to get away with it.
I have no idea why he thought trying to making it a public flagellation display was going to make him any more sympathetic. All he did was make more people aware that he was a massive scammer.

Pretty productive 10 bucks from me, all things considered.
>>713213132 (OP)Never ended up falling for this dogshit as an actual faggotfurfaggot but kept my eye on it occasionally when it was literal vaporware years ago, but it's just a case of greed where he wanted to keep the influx of WEG-tier Patreonbux and double dip with Steambux and had a melty he couldn't have his cake and eat it too.
>>713214147We're talking about work that is maybe 6-8 hours a month depending on how good he is with copy-pasting models and palette swapping. I'd call it less "work" and more like basic maintenance. Most people spend several times longer taking a shower everyday a month than the amount of "work" it'd require for him to pull this off. I mean seriously, how fucking lazy do you have to be.
>>713214125Link the rule.
He had, in fact, been updating the game. But it was in a public beta build instead of the regular branch. You needed to know to opt into it, but it was public. Since the slider thing revealed a second secret Patreon beta branch, he revoked access to the public test build. None of the content from said test build ever made it into the stable release, meaning he hasn't just not updated the game, but removed half a year's worth of updates that are now inaccessible.
The most bizarre thing about this whole thing is how that guy ended up getting such a devout public defense team to shill for him while he actively fucks them over and milks them for money. I mean how much of a fucking autist do you have to be for not only thanking someone for fucking you over but actively defend them doing so.
>>713213132 (OP)I didn't know any of this. I bought the game when it came out hoping it would get updates pretty consistently but I haven't played since it released. Very disappointing.
reminder the only reason it's in early access is because Kiseff ran out of beta keys to give patreon followers who wanted to play an extremely early build of the game
>>713214347Steam allows Pateon builds so long as store-bought owners have access to the content in some way. You cannot advertise Patreon on the store page nor are you allowed to gatekeep content and updates behind Patreon unless you are willing to use an in-game subscription service model. I'm having a hard time finding it in the FAQ but they explicitly highlight this several times public statements and to games developers who put their games on Steam and already have a Patreon build.
Kissoft not only gatekept content and updates to only his Patreon build, he actively removed the beta branch that had at least some of the updates on it. He violated store policy twice now and he still hasn't removed the Patreon exclusive version so he's technically STILL violating his first offense.

>>713220706>stupid enough to buy shitty early access games on steam it could be avoided by playing the free demo and realizing how fucking dogshit the game is before buying it
The thing I don't get is:
>Release early access game
>Everyone buying it knows it's early access and is basically a glorified beta
>Release constant tester builds for your patreon subs to try out all the new content you're working on
>Don't EVER release any of it publicly to anyone else because it's "unfinished"
Everyone knows it's an unfinished game, why hold onto all this shit for a year instead of just letting everyone test it? It's not like he didn't do the work. It exists, it's already right there, and everyone bugging him for content updates would've lapped it up.
>>713221416but then his patreon bucks dry up, dev is a double dipping retard
>>713221416Because if he does that then he can't milk his retarded fans more by enticing them with more content. As the other anon said, he's trying to double dip because he's a scumbag and doesn't want to work.
What fucks me up the most about this is that he literally doesn't even need to do the Patreon shit anymore. He had over 110k sales on Steam when it was at full price and he's a solo dev. Even after Steam takes their cut the dude has got to have nearly had 1 million dollars off the game already. Why the fuck would he try to use Patreon to milk even more cash? >>713223102I'm just terrible at programming. I'll readily admit I don't have the mindset for it. I'm trying to implement the puzzle system to get a prototype working and attract some interest and prove I'm serious. I'm struggling to do something that should be pretty trivial, that's a shortcoming on my part. But maybe I'll learn something in the process, and it'll click someday.
>>713213881$0 b/c I was gifted it. I'm still disappointed over the wasted potential, but retarded devs are what they are.
I absolutely saw it coming that it would never get updated again
it's too ambitious in scope for what is a repurposed coomer game and I guess he doesn't want to become a studio that hires people
What really sucks about all of this is that there is actually a decently fun game in there on top of having shortstacks but it's pretty obvious at this point that there is no hope for this game unless someone picks it up for Kissoft and starts heavily modding it.
>>713223484A prototype should look and feel like a rough prototype. Also if I had to guess your workflow is backwards. You get an idea for the game and try to code it based on that idea, but you need the inverse: to form your game ideas based on your understanding of the code. Let's say your character has an inventory, it's just arrays and other code that gives the illusion of the player interacting with an inventory system. My only other suggestion is take notes on what you're learning. It'll help you develop your own little coding bible full of hotkeys and shortcuts based on your understanding of the systems. That way you can build on it as you go instead of crawling through 600 pages of the documentation for that one trick you don't quite remember

Then initiate into the actual puzzle interface where you can select the linking pieces. But there's something wrong with the grid or the pieces that I just can't figure out. The pieces get stuck in weird ways. As far as I understand it, that shouldn't be happening based on the code I've written. Maybe the piece is losing its identity somehow, but I just can't figure it out. This is stuff that Flash games were able to do, like it was nothing, 20 years ago, so I know it's my fault and I'm stumbling on stuff that wouldn't take an experienced programmer 20 minutes to implement in a competent fashion.
