Even when it was heavily targeted towards teenage boys during the late 90's to early 00's. Yeah Cortana was hot but she didn't sell copies of Halo. And plenty more games sold millions of copies and didn't have any conventionally attractive females (outside of advertisements or booth girls) like GTA 4, Last of Us, Bioshock, various CODs, Splinter Cell, Elder Scrolls, etc while the games that pretty much tried to sell off the fact they had hot girls like say a Duke Nukem, Leisure Suit Larry, WET, Bloodrayne, various WRPGs/fantasy at the time, and more were middling successes at best and flops at worse. I think really only Bioware was seeing success from having mostly attractive women purely because they had romance sequences and I still wouldn't say they were as successful outside of Mass Effect.
