I really don't get it. For all the talk about Nintendo hating the Rare Donkey Kong games this game looks like Mario Odyssey slammed together with a N64 Era rare game.
I haven't bought a Switch 2 yet and I honestly plan to wait awhile due to the price and some of the bullshit business decisions around it, but when/if I do get one, I'll be picking this game up. Unless it comes out and just sucks, lol.

Ganondorf is a reincarnation of Demise, true. However, the Ganon we often see in the "decline" timeline is explicitly the Ganondorf sealed in Ocarina of time. Calamity Ganon is the only Ganon that isn't actually Ganondorf. This happened because the Hyruleans don't really know about Demise or his curse. They associate calamity with the name Ganon so they assumed this raw manifestation of the curse had to come from Ganon because he's the one who has been fucking shit up for them forever so they just called it Ganon out of habit.
Ganon himself has reincarnated like Zelda and Link multiple times. His appearance in TotK, Four Swords, and a few other places where the OG ganondorf canonically died, are him reincarnating. Ganondorf is an incarnation of demise, but even when he's sealed and can't appear again, Demise's curse still surfaces(Calamity Ganon). They're connected but ultimately seperate phenomena.

The tricky thing about K. Rool is that he's not as present as the likes of Eggman or Bowser and usually only shows up at the end, so unless there's kremlings everywhere it's hard to say if he's in. Which on one hand makes him a great potential twist inclusion, but also leads to delusional levels of cope for games like Returns, TF, and maybe this.

Then again, I'm not immune to this thinking myself, he could be the secret boss of the Void Company, come in at the last second to steal the spotlight, or even be VK like >>713226848 said. Truth be told, none of the non-Rare games outside of Retro's titles sold well, and the Retro titles were coasting off the DKC brand, which Rare had a full hand in creating. Were it not for Rare, DK would be an uncommon/obscure Mario character in the sports titles. DKC made DK. Rare made DK into a household name outside of a single title that was already fading away before 1990.

This, K. Rool represents a deeper part of the DK franchise, one that made the ape into a hero alongside Mario and Link, rather than another Mario villain who got pushed aside by Bowser. Getting him in Smash wasn't the endgoal, it was him getting back to his main villain status in Donkey Kong that was the focus. This is what I'm thinking too, like it makes too much sense for people from the Odyssey team to do that with how much love they put into that game. It would be possible for a sequel setup but somehow that seems unlikely to me if anyone else makes the next mainline DK.

I think another possibility, based off Cranky's dialogue, is that K Rool eventually comes after YOU after hearing about the banandium. You and Voidco did all the hard work for him, so now he's going to fuck everyone up like Bowser in TTYD.

The section on skill trees showed 4 columns of unavailable skills to the right of a skill tree with the Kong Bananza icon, this is leading me to think there will be a total of 5 different Bananza transformations.

Having 5 is also the maximum amount you could have while making quickly swapping between them with a single press of a button possible. By using the D-Pad/directional buttons, you got 4 possible forms, and then by pressing the same button you would normally press to use your current form, you could easily access a 5th.

I hope K. Rool in Smash means whatever Nintendo autism that was preventing his return has been dispelled and not just another case of Sakurai being the only one allowed to break the rules. With how much water there is in the game and DK not being able to go under the surface I think there's going to be some kind of aquatic form. I've seen suggestions for a swordfish form but I think an octopus form would be neat since you could use it in water but also on land as a form that's designed to climb very quickly. And we're probably going to get some kind of crazy final form for the finale like Bowser was in Odyssey.

At this point my best guess would be that he wants to confuse the kongs, having his army intervene above ground as a distraction while he works directly as Void Kong with Voidco as his stand-in army for this operation.

But really, I'd find it more likely that Void Kong is a wannabe, meant to fill a similar role to K Rool as Diddy is to DK, so he of course wears a lot of similar articles. (Gold vest, gold this and that, regal attire, etc).
