WoW players, what's it like playing an asymmetric game where you can sneak into Horde territory as an Alliance race and get up to mischief? As a ZIV player my experience is completing my tutorial city and getting a brief intro to the other two cities at Lv10ish and going "Oh cool, these guys fight sheep instead of squirrels."

for the record i have also played xiv
no one really does stuff like that anymore because the playerbase is so old and lazy and jaded and there's no "reason" to go fuck around in enemy territory and the modern story has formed a tacit peace between the factions
the only reason (at least in retail wow) one might organize a small raid on the enemy capitals would be a completionist looking to get an old achievement for killing faction leaders (you get a mount but the modern playerbase is so collectionminded that they would more likely sit and cheer you on as you killed their faction leader instead of mounting a defense)
although having the potential to do it and other things like it is appealing, i dont like how xiv does its systems and zones where its mostly claustrophobic set dressing and theres no cool secrets and items to find which wow is more sandbox-y in that respect

Nobody does stuff like that anymore, retail wow is about as on rails as XIV is these days after your 30 odd levels of timewalking questing in a zone that hasn't been story relevant in 15 years.
