Doesn't Red Orchestra/Rising Storm 2 fit the bill? the games don't really lean that hard into milsim autism and more so go for light authenticity. The only caveat is that those games play more similarly to rush mode than conquest.

There was still a semi-active Base assault server when I logged on last year to show someone old CoD. Might have to check to see if it's still around. Still mad EA shut down 2142s servers a few months after I picked it back up in college. The mad dash out of the Titan as it blows is still the best way to end a match of a multiplayer game.

Anybody ever play that source mod Empires? It was another combined arms shooter, but with RTS elements like having a commander per each team and setting up resource gathering points and buildings. Pretty neat for what it was despite the janky source vehicle physics.

Without the BR mode they probably wouldn't make any game at all. The people making decisions don't want normal game money, they want Warzone money. They'll advertise it as a side thing but I guarantee that the BR mode is internally considered the real main game with the classic BF full price release existing to offset the costs of launching the BR and to take advantage of existing brand mindshare to help advertise the BR. Like a booster rocket that's dropped after helping the space shuttle achieve escape velocity.

Bf2 is the best bf but bf3 was also quite good in retrospect, the blue filter sucked but gunplay was nice, vehicles controlled nice and were not too overpowered. I didnt like the normal mode though I could play only HC servers. Unfortunately nowadays there are only normal servers that are still populated.

Can someone tell me what Battlefield game it was where you played US vs China, and you could swap between your own people at will? The first mission was a winter map, and I remember swapping into the sniper on the water tower and shooting the guys coming down in parachutes or something.

Yet both Firestorm and Hazard Zone were abandoned instantly in favor of main multiplayer. I don't see BF BR succeeding at all desu even among BR players. Why would Warzone players want to play BF Warzone when Warzone already exists and they already have 30 different skin bundles in that game? Gauntlet(Finals mode) might be successful though. I DO hope they will try to make another extraction mode in BF2143 though.Setting fits perfectly for an extraction shooter and I don't even like extraction shooters.

Warzone has been getting progressively worse ever since BO Cold War integration, with every new CoD release another studio joins in and change the mode in accordance with whatever new stuff the main game has or other random bullshit additions. Verdansk's return for sure was a breath of fresh air but it didn't last that long because of shit like omnimovement, prop hunt emote, Terminator skin that fucks with the visibility and their godawful implementation of casual mode solos filled with bots.

BFV multiplayer was also abandoned to try to make Hazard Zone work and I'd bet money that 2042 wasn't abandoned the same way only because because it was cheap to support and they were worried about gaining a reputation for abandoning live service games a year after launch.

Maybe people stopped playing Warzone because they got bored from playing the same shit for 5-6 years? Warzone 2.0 didn't killed it but BO6 did despite BO6 being way way better than WZ2.0 and MW19: II. Even Splitgate 2 BR is dead on arrival despite SG2 BR being one of the most innovative BRs in recent years with it's respawn system(literally Battlefield lol) and portal/map structure. BR is a dying genre in general, even Fortnite tries to re-invent itself with user generated content and tons of new modes. Modern BRs and extraction shooters may only work if they are hardcore like PUBG or Tarkov(given they only gain more players over the years instead of losing them unlike other BRs).
