its not a turn based jrpg
it was made by 1 japanese autist for 20 years instead of some pretentious derivative ass losers
the music isnt the most forgettable piece of shit ever, its exclusively the creators' great and varied music taste over 20 years, consists entirely of songs that are royalty free or that he got authorization to use. its generally insanely well received at the music selection and now most of its tracks are primarily known for astlibra

do you like gear based progression
do you like hack and slashes with lots of different combat options
do you like multiple different progression systems interlinking with each other and depending on one another
do you like fun stories with lots of twists
do you like grinding for materials to get new gear
do you like when the writing gets overly japanese at times

if yes then it's a game for you. if no then it's not

its cool to navigate its environments, its simple and cheap looking but its good funslop, starts basic and gets progressively more involved layouts over time
it goes a lot of places

DO NOT play the demo, it sucks balls and makes the game look schizophrenic
The normal game itself is a much better introduction

>do you like gear based progression
dont really care for it. i dont hate or love it, depends i guess. i like the gear progression in ex33, that genuinely adds new effects for you to build and syngergize around. too bad i dont think the game is generally great enough.
>do you like hack and slashes with lots of different combat options
No, I find that "options" is more often than not a superfluous excuse for not actually having a coherent vision for combat. Id never use "options" to describe my favourite games, even the RPG ones i happen to like.
>do you like multiple different progression systems interlinking with each other and depending on one another
yes, yes, yes, yes.
>do you like fun stories with lots of twists
when im watching. not playing. i prefer characterization and dialogue generally anyway when it comes to longer mediums.
>do you like grinding for materials to get new gear
No. Unironically one of the things that can kill a game for me.
>do you like when the writing gets overly japanese at times
Also no.

the grind in astlibra is optional desu, you choose whether or not you care about it. its more about unlocking different perks and trying out different shit rather than vertical progression, the actual vertical progression just comes naturally as you play
i honestly encourage anybody to give it a pirate
