Thats absolutely retarded and they fit perfectly into the family of arthropods.
They have been on earth for a very long time as a very successful group of animals and as such they've had a lot of opportunity to evolve and speciate and branch and move into different niches.
Mycology is pretty cool, but it only seems so "weird" because most people spend zero time thinking about it except when you see some mushrooms pop up after a rainstorm.
If I ever got fuck you money, I'd love to just have a bunch of grow rooms where I try to cultivate mushrooms that are hard to cultivate.

If they're territorial then that's irrelevant.
And there's debate about how opportunistic they are, I've even heard some ideas that they may have been selective predators, like how dolphins will kill sharks and just eat their livers. Its possible they used those steak knife teeth to sheer off the prime muscle groups, and then left the rest to scavengers.

People around here see bears every day. Suburban developments have spread into what used to be heavily wooded areas and animals that used to travel through them to get to brooks and ponds still try to. Most obviously run from humans and so they've had to adapt, but bears don't. They'll walk right through your yard, the fuck you going to do?
I've never seen a mountain lion, but most people I know have. They can travel pretty far outside what the experts claim is their territory.
I've never seen a wolf but I hear coyotes every night. Sometimes I see them run through my yard. Every few years I see a fox cross the street.
I've never seen a moose, but they're pretty infamous for fucking demolishing vehicles.
I've only ever seen one skunk, but he lived under my porch.
I see Canadian geese every day I go to work. Around the corner from where I live is a pond where a bunch hang out, they usually don't cross the street, but the factory I work at is situated between canals and there's two or three families that hang out around there, I've been watching the babies grow up over the past few weeks, there's no grass or trees around there they just walk through the street and parking lots and along the sidewalks.

>dock spider are not considered dangerous to humans
this is the blue ringed octopus commonly found in australian rock pools. roughly a little smaller than a dock spider
>Their bites are tiny and often painless, with many victims not realizing they have been envenomated until respiratory depression and paralysis begins
>The octopus produces venom containing tetrodotoxin, histamine, tryptamine, octopamine, taurine, acetylcholine, and dopamine. The venom can result in nausea, respiratory arrest, heart failure, severe and sometimes total paralysis, and blindness, and can lead to death within minutes if not treated. Death is usually from suffocation due to paralysis of the diaphragm
imagine collapsing in paralysis being unable to breath or call for help but still being aware of your surroundings until you suffocate to death

aussie here, every day when i get into my car, i pass by a redback nest in the shed.
i have brownsnakes in the bush down the road, multiple local dogs have died to sniffing the wrong hole in the ground.
i've had to chase a red belly blacksnake out of my mates house a week back, because it bit his dog, and while their family were rushing it to the vet (its half paralysed now, neurotoxins scary) i offered to remove it from his kids room.
funnel webs aren't too common anymore, but as a child a kid from my school spent literal months in hospital after putting his finger into what he thought was an ant hill, and got bit.
roo kicked me off my bike one night, broke 3 ribs on the side it kicked, i just didn't see it in my neighbours garden and i spooked it.
dino ate another mates dog while we went camping.

im not going out into the outback or anything, i live in the Sydney CBD.
yes you may see a bear while hiking, but i literally cant go outside without getting fucking swooped by maggies for a good chunk of the year, and stumbling into a snakes den is a near certainty on a walk through the suburbs.

Thanks, I hate it. Way worse than the two instances of a mosquito crawling into my ear. One of those times, the buzzing grew louder and louder only to suddenly stop forever, and I choose to believe it suffocated in my earwax.

>in the forest
Actually, you'd be orders of magnitude safer with a moose. They're territorial, but get bored quickly, so as long as you can just use trees to avoid it, the moose will just leave.

A lone wolf will absolutely try to kill you if it's hungry (very likely if it's alone), and boars have an unending thirst for goring things down unless it's half pig in which case it might just go on its way; otherwise it's game over for you.

Man, if I had a fuckton of money and land with forests that was close enough to a city, but still remote enough to be concerning, I would totally just put up animatronic props of monsters with very high quality speakers around my property to fuck with any wayward explorers. They'd stow away into the ground at sunrise.

The whole 'own image' usually refers to the creative power we share (with god) the thought that can become an actual idea, and eventually something real. Itโ€™s more than just physical (if it's even physical), we share the same power as God when creating atrocity here on Earth.

Gympie-Gympie because of course it'd be something ridiculous like that
>The trichomes stay in the skin for up to a year, and release the toxin cocktail into the body during triggering events such as touching the affected area, contact with water, or temperature changes.[9][17][23] Ernie Rider, a conservation officer with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service,[16] was slapped in the face and torso with the foliage in 1963, and said:
For two or three days the pain was almost unbearable; I couldn't work or sleep... I remember it feeling like there were giant hands trying to squash my chest... then it was pretty bad pain for another fortnight or so. The stinging persisted for two years and recurred every time I had a cold shower...There's nothing to rival it; it's ten times worse than anything else.[16]
Physical contact with Dendrocnide moroides is not the only way that it can cause harm to a personโ€”the trichomes are constantly being shed from the plant and may be suspended in the air within its vicinity. They can then be inhaled, which may lead to respiratory complications if a person spends time in close proximity to the plant.
