I get the desire to hold onto an OC, I've held onto 15 year old designs myself. I was talking less about leaving your design behind and more about modifying it to be less nonsensical and in-line with what you want to have for the character. If you're a fleshymawfag - that's not a very robotic thing at all. But if she was a biological creature with cybernetic enhancements - she would look more thematically coherent while keeping your favorite bits. And you wouldn't have to ditch her. That's what you do when you learn more and better things - you refine your existing formula.
